Hello!

Hi, I was wondering if u could ask your community of mums a question for me?  I’m returning to work in July after having my second child & am looking for some quick, easy & nutritious family meal suggestions that I can throw together on a week night. My eldest is nearly 3 & a little bit of a fussy eater so any ideas would be helpful!  Thank you!

  • Lasagna -tacos-spaghetti burgers and wraps

  • I am about to be in the same boat and have planned a rotational plan of foods, mostly a few different types of tossed salad which can be prepared days in advance and then cook meat fresh. Shepherds pie, potato bakes, quiche, veggie slice are also good to have with salad or veggies or even just on there own and some can be made in advance

  • spaghetti bolognaise, sandwiches, carbonara, wraps, stir frys., roasts, salads and vegie stacks

  • Try devil sausages; you can obtain the sauce in coles or safeway and that to some sausages and mash. my kids enjoy it and its and easy meal.

  • Slowcookers are great because you can set and forget. Pastas are also quick and easy you can put a lot of veg in the sauce.

  • beef stews and soups are great, you can put them in the slow cooker and they will be ready when you get home

  • Let the slowcooker become your best friend!

  • Zucchini slice is a great healthy one. I make a batch and it lasts 2 even 3 nights

  • Pizza is really quick to put together and great for fussy eaters, you can make sure every food group is covered if you pick the right ingredients.

  • Try cooking and freezing during the weekends It makes things so much easier and less tension for you . You can have that time to relax after a hard days work

  • Pasta and spaghetti are quick easy and tasty

  • There are a lot of great recipes on the MoM website! Invest in a slowcooker, it can be a real time (and life) saver! I find a lot of recipe’s on taste.com, I look for the easy ones with short lists of ingredients.

  • They have a lot of great recepie ideas on here

  • I like to make things I can prepare in advance (eg lasagna) and then just chuck in the oven at dinner time.

  • I agree tacos are great for kids or parmesan chicken, chicken parmesiana, shepherds pie etc. Hope this helps

  • Yep tacos seem popular amongst the kids definitely.

  • Tacos are always easy and you can choose the fillings to ensure theyre healthy ie lettuc tomato onion etc!

  • Tuna & pineapple casserole was a winner with my children, pour tuna into casserole dish, then add a can of drained pineapple, make a white/cheese sauce, mix, add extra cheese & breadcrumbs & there you have a nutritious meal served on a bed of steamed basmati rice, very nice :). Oh about 35 min in 180degree oven. Hope you like tuna :)

  • Stews also are great for winter dinners, use a slow cooker and should be ready for when you get home from work
