Hello!

What’s in your hospital bag?

I’m starting to put together my bag for the hospital and realised I have too many homeopathic/aromatherapy/flower essence bottles to bring in! Fumbling my way through these remedies during contractions or worse, expecting my hubby to know which one to give me and when was a scary thought!

I have put together a birthing dough called “push” not only is the dough great to squeeze (saving hubbys poor arm) but it’s full of great rememdies that can calm and focus the mother on the task at hand.

If you have a baby shower coming up, the dough is a great gift idea.

Check out the ingredients and benefits on the website http://gripdough.com.au/product/push

Any great suggestions of what to pack for the hospital?

  • Great idea indeed ! Lots of cheap underwear, or even disposiable underwear, maternity pads, breast pads, comfy clothing, slippers, phone & charger, book and your favourite snacks / food items.

  • The push dough sounds like a great idea. You also sound extremely organised and prepared – I think I need your list hehe

  • Wow this is a great idea!

  • Big cheap underwear (Kmart $1 or $2 ones to throw out) lots of good maternity pads, breast pads, snacks! After 5 kids that’s my top picks

  • Breast gel discs (Rite Aid brand) Whether breast feeding or not they are soothing, cooling and healing (and more comfy than cabbage leaves!)

  • Also; a soft inflatable ring for sitting on!

  • That dough sounds wonderful. I would totally try to be going all natural if I had another baby.

  • I love the dough idea!!

  • My dads a naturpath he made me this awesome massage oil and my husband rubbed my pressure points with it. It eased the build up of contractions so much.

  • Great idea s I like the idea of 3 seperate bags

  • Going home outfits for mum and bub. :)

  • We took a suitcase plus a bag for bubs. I took wayyy to much stuff and I had all intentions of using everything but in the moment I found we didnt end up having time. And i hardly wore any of the clothes I took and I definitely didnt need my hair dryer haha. Oh well. I will know for next time.

  • No mention of baby clothes at all.

  • I had three bags: one for the birth/labour room (camera, notepad, squeeze ball – yep, to also save hubby’s hand! I love the sound of that dough though, sounds like a wonderful idea!, warm socks etc), another bag for the hospital stay after the birth (maternity pads and boy undies, toiletries, comfy clothes I could breastfeed in, a book etc), plus a third bag that stayed in the car for extras (extra maternity and breast pads, nappies etc). Try to minimise what you take to the absolute essentials, because the last thing you want to do is rummage around in the bag trying to find things (both during labour and after). My first time around I ended up sending half of the stuff home because I didn’t end up using it and it was just taking up space. I wish you all the best, and good luck!
