sorry i have no cure for you, but im just asking you patch test whatever you want to try on your baby?
i have had terrible ecsms since birth and although a lot of the current answers are great and amazing for a lot of people, they dont always work for a select few of us..
good luck with it all..
Hi there! Another mum here that has dealt with eczema.
Firstly, has your child got any allergies? It’s always my first question to mums with a child dealing with eczema. Breast feeding my second daughter the first few months was horrible. It wasn’t like that with my first because I didn’t have to deal with issues like eczema, lip and tongue ties and sensitive skin etc. I was so lost until I actually did some research on allergies and eczema. I found a great allergist also which helped me on my eczema journey with my daughter. I only use QV baby moisturiser on my daughter it is the only thing that is gentle on her skin (I tried every product on the market btw) if she has major flare ups (which never happens anymore) I use steroid cream that can only be prescribed by your doctor. But I’ve tried to cut the steroid cream out as it’s not good to use them on a regular basis. But the thing that helped most was getting to the bottom of the cause of eczema in the first place which was the allergies she had. Good luck and all the best!
You could try adding a little bit of Epson Salts to the bath water.
Also it could be the water where you live. I know a family whose son got chronic eczema while living in Adelaide. They tried various preparations recommended by different medical professionals. It would very briefly show slight improvement. There was times he wouldn’t want to walk at all.The Dad got a work transfer back to Melbourne from Adelaide and the little boy’s eczema cleared up quickly. Now they can’t keep him still
Try removing any soaps and washing clothes in a gentle cleaner. If that doesn’t help try some of the natural creams your chemist should be able to give you samples so you can try them and see what works.
Obviously I am no doctor, but i have always found a nice oat bath to be very soothing for itchy skin and even nappy rash. Put some rolled oats in an old sock or stocking and tie the end. Then put it in a bath of warm water and squeeze the sock quite a few times so that it starts to seep into the water. It should turn quite milky. Then baby or child can go in.
We went on a house boat holiday for a week and both my children’s eczema completely disappeared, we were eating the same food but they were swimming in the salt water every day. Within a week of returning back home it was back again. I am sure it was the salt water swims.
We used the Mustela emollient cream on my little one, and used lukewarm bath water so as to not irritate the skin while the teething rash made its appearance.
Didn’t realise this was for a baby when I clicked on it, so not sure if this will help you much. I have a friend whose little boy has eczema and she finds it clears up after a trip to the beach. I guess the salt water helps
