Hello!

I have 3 children under 4 and financially need to return to the workforce, however childcare for 3 children for the week is far too expensive. I have moved interstate so I don’t have any friends or family to watch them. I’m trying to find other options that aren’t going to cost my entire pay check at the end of the week. Am I just kidding myself or is there a way?

  • Maybe it would be more financially wise to stay home with them.

  • I don’t know of any other options. Childcare is so expensive, it’s often not worth returning to work because of the cost of childcare

  • Have you looked at the cost for a nanny? I found that cheaper than daycare. Go to findababysitter.com

  • not sure but good luck, you need to for your sanity!

  • try a pet minding business, or collecting mail, putting bins out etc for people on holidays – driving them to the airport, etc….. things that will probs pay cash too!!

  • Try looking for private adds Gumtree etc mothers advertise who r looking for work allot cheaper just make sure they have a working with children certificate re police check

  • make sure you talk to someone who can tell you more info

  • yeah really good ideas on here.

  • Think about an Au Pair. It is charged per day, not per child.

  • try looking into something like freelancer.com

  • it is difficult, you really need to outweight the cost over the benefits

  • Have you checked out the calculators on the Centrelink / Human Services website? They may help to know what they costs will be for you. It can be hard with CCB and CCR not covering the 5 days.

  • as around at the schools, some mums take baby sitting on and could maybe help you out at a good price

  • Family day care is usually the best option as you only pay for the hours you need, not a full day.

  • you could try family day care but thats expensive to.

  • there are some good comments here

  • how did it all go?

  • I hope the transition back to work went well.

  • I agree with what memo said, weigh up both sides and see if it is worth it.

  • What have you decided to do work wise?
