Hello!

“I have 12 months old baby. Currently I am using finger toothbrush for her. She has 4 teeth so far 2 up and 2 down. I am wondering is it ok to introduce her normal baby toothbrush ? Or shall I need to wait until she gets more teeth? Please assist.”

  • Adults toothbrushes are too big for a childs jaw . I used to buy the baby one , but waited till they got more teeth . Maybe check with your dentist .

  • A baby toothbrush would be a better fit, I’ld use one at that age

  • Our baby is younger but has a similar number of teeth we use a flannel and water with no toothpaste

  • you can use a tooth brush now for sure

  • I think you can move to a baby toothbrush.

  • yes, there are a lot of toothbrushes on the market now for little ones

  • I’d get her a proper toothbrush. Look on the packet for the age recommendations

  • Make sure you buy a baby toothbrush. And brush her teeth every night before bed. Its good to start this routine early.

  • Good to get them used to the toothbrush

  • Have these answers been helpful?

  • Let them chew on a wet flannel in bath… I was told that cleans the teeth at same time

  • I would think a cloth is still o.k at this age

  • It is best to get them used to the feel of a toothbrush against their gums as soon as possible. Just make sure you get a gentle one. The one I use on my 8 month old son is actually a finger topper, and has short silicone bristles which can also be used as a gum massager to soothe teething pain. Something like this would be a great transitional brush

  • Yes for sure, its great too get them into a routine early! They have all different size toothbrushes fir differebt ages

  • Yes. They soon get used to the practice. The supermarket has some I believe for this age group

  • Child needs to get used to the idea of using a toothbrush.

  • Hope that helps ;P

  • It’s. Fine to use toothbrush I always did with my son from when his 1st tooth came up;-)

  • I have for all 3 of my children so they get used to it. You may want to continue using the finger toothbrush for a while too.

  • yes as soon as they start to teethe you can buy baby brushes.
