Hello!

“Should I feel bad about making time for myself? I am considering joining the gym and it is $25 per week, plus there is all the time I would need to spend there without the kids. We are on a tight budget and I feel like I might be being selfish – do any other mums feel this way?”

  • My daughter joined one this year and $25 a week sounds very high . She has joined crunch for Gym at $6.95/week and if she goes to a class then she pays an extra $5. My sister in law one is $14.95 , includes class , gym , sauna, pool etc. Most of them are quite competitive , but your price sounds very high . Do some more research on your local ones and compare carefully .

  • You are not being selfish!
You need to take some time out & do something for yourself & the gym has so many amazing benefits!
You will feel so much better within yourself & have a lot more energy.

  • Take time out for yourself often and enjoy it! You deserve to recharge your batteries :)

  • You do need some relaxation so go for it

  • U most definitely should NOT feel bad! U do so much . U need u time!

  • You definitely should not feel bad about making time for yourself! You need to look after yourself too, to be able to be the best mum you possibly can be. There’s nothing selfish about taking a bit of time out for yourself.

  • Of course you shouldn’t feel bad and of course we always do feel bad! You will feel better and be happier if you look after yourself, and that will in turn make you a better parent. Many gyms have a creche and some gyms (like our local YMCA) will let you volunteer for two hours a week in some capacity and then have free gym membership.

  • no way u allways need time to yourself .

  • You need your me time to re-energise yourself and be a better mummy. Go for it.

  • I know where you are coming from but do it – take the time and if $25 a week won’t kill you then go for that!!

  • join the gym you’ll feel better

  • Just because you have a baby doesnt mean your life stops!
Everyone needs “Me” time, to stay happy.
Being a happy mother will benefit your child!

  • You deserve it! Have fun!

  • Everyone needs me time. There is nothing wrong with getting a bit of me time

  • As long as you actually go, I think it’s a good investment! The more healthy and fit you are, the more energy you’ll have for the other things you need to do.

  • no you should not. I’m jealous

  • You are not feeling selfish you are trying your best to balance everything and be the best mum there is. A tired overworked mum is generally snappy and unhappy.

  • you are not being selfish it is good for you to go to the gym and it will make you feel good :)

  • I wouldnt feel selfish, if this is your time out and what you want to do, then do it without any guilt

  • Never feel selfish. You are wanting to be healthy and having a mum that is healthy can’t be bad. If it is used, you will also be a role model for your children – getting exercise…
We mums have a habit for feeling guilty about a lot of things. This shouldn’t be one of them.
