Hello!

I have been told by a nurse that it is best to loosen the cap a little on bottles to make the milk flow easier for my bub, and to reduce wind. Does anyone know if this is true or if it makes a difference? Should I loosen the cap on the baby bottle?

  • I don’t think it makes a difference (and if you loosen it too much, I can see spillage happening). You can choose teats that will change the milk flow if you need to.

  • I always thought this would increase the air that’s swallowed, increasing wind. Also making it flow too fast and swallowing too much wind

  • Yes. It helps get air bubbles into the bottle so they don’t “suck the guts out of it” so to speak.

  • I have heard this too, you have to get the balance right or the bottle leaks everywhere.

  • IT WAS ALSO SIZE OF TEAT HOLE SOME WERE TOO SMALL AND HAD TO MAKE THEM BIT BIGGER.TRY BOTH AND SEE.

  • I never have? I would imagine the bottle could leak.m

  • This is true however don’t loosen it too much!

  • How was it?

  • I used Avent bottles & yes you do need to loosen just slightly to assist flow.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • did you end up trying it?

  • Did you try it and did it work?

  • I’ve never heard of this but I used avent bottles and you buy different teats for different flow

  • Did you end up loosening the cap on the babies bottle?

  • Yes just a little 🙂

  • Never actually heard of doing that.

  • I think adjusting it depends on the bottle I think, plus how well your baby can suck it .

  • I have never used a bottle so its good to know these things awesome thanks I learnt something new today 🙂

  • Yes that is actually true. I use to loosen bottles. U don’t need to loosen much though

  • yes I did this with a few brands
