I don’t think it’s necessary for children under five, but if you want you, go for it.

Personally I didn’t do it when they were so young, but loved doing it when my kids were primary school age. I never did lollies in the party bags and prefer a small unique gift too.

I did it for both my kids from the get go! When my girl turned one she had a teddy bears picnic theme. Each of her guests got a teddy bear shaped teether and I gave them all a laminated placemat with the teddy bears picnic lyrics on it.
Party bags are a personal choice. I always like them so have always given them!

I love party bags, they’re so much fun. I don’t think it’s a waste for you to make some to hand out. How much you put in really depends on how many bags you plan to make up, it can get expensive if you do too much

My baby was given a bag of bath squirter toys as a party favour it was an awesome take home gift for her and she uses them every day. They were purchased from Babies R Us. Older kids were given something different.

I did party bags, but put pencils, stickers and colouring in sheets in them. They were well received and parent preferred them over lollies.

I think party bags are a great addition to kids parties. I know when my kids go to parties, I always check out the bags when they come home

For my little cousins first birthday his Mum did gift bags for all the kids with a few age appropriate toys for each one- my bubba got a little squeaker hammer, and a soft book. Some of the older kids got a pot of kinetic sand and a colouring book with pencils.
I thought it was an awesome idea instead of the usual lollies. Would be a lot harder if you have a lot of kids there though

Absolutely!
There is so much more that can go into party bags than lollies.
Personally, I would prefer my children receive a party bag with a colouring book & crayons than a party bag full of lollies.

We are doing the 1st birthday rounds atm and have only been given a party bag at one. It’s was tailored to bubs with baby chews and yummys.

Party bags are unnecessary until E is invited to other children’s parties. At this age, you are only doing it for the parents. Later on, the children will know and expect it. Forget the sugary junk and do crayons and the colouring book. Or a face mask.

My girl turns two this year so I’ll be following to get some ideas. I like your idea of a mini Peppa Pig colouring book though! It’s fun and appealing for the kids and it will get used up (thrown away when finished) and won’t clutter the house up!

Party bags are great fun for the kids even if it’s just little stuff. We’ve steered clear of lollies though and have just put various toys into them.

Worth doing if they don’t blow out whatever budget you have allocated to the party and work well if you can time them into being place settings or prizes for each child. Makes them feel included in the friends/siblings/relatives special day. Your idea of colouring book and pens sounds great, generally do not think they need the extra sweeties that are often included in party bags especially if the even had a large range already available to them to have nibbled on.
