Hello!

I am trying to introduce solids to my 6 month old but she is not interested at all. I am so worried.

  • I started mine with smoothly mashed stewed apples and pears with cinnamon and added boby milk only a teaspoon taste test is required bit by bit and they will get it. Then mashed sweet potato and mashed white potato then added broccoli. I bought a small food processor and made small batches from our dinner that I cooked so meals were easier. Store bought baby food is great when your on the run. Baby will take to their new food when they are ready.

  • All kids do things on their own schedule. Six months is very early to worry about this, so try not to. I know that’s easier said than done! Just keep offering them regularly, and eventually I’m sure your baby will get interested. If they’re not interested by maybe 10 months then it’s worth talking to your doctor.

  • My youngest was the same. He didn’t start solids until he was 8months old, he just wasn’t interested… he is now 8 and eats so much 😅

  • All kids reach different milestones at different rates. If she is happy and healthy that is the main thing. I would suggest to keep offering. Pear puree is super sweet and, in my experience, a favourite for babies. My boys were generally not keen on purees though. My oldest loved anything that I was eating from very young (especially if I was expressive about how good it was) – perhaps try serving it on your plate and expressing how good it is before offering some. I did this with solid foods that he sucked and chewed on more than actually ate. My youngest loved strawberries and sweet fruit (I learnt to be cautious of tart strawberries) in the b.box silicon feeders. Also – don’t go too far down the rabbit hole of baby led weaning vs puree vs other methods – be kind to yourself and try to go with the flow, she will get there – and when she does it will be fun and messy!

  • It’s such a stressful time, but remember food for fun until one. My little guy was resistant, but eventually came around at about 10 months and loved food. Just keep offering, try to not show your stress so she doesn’t pick up on it, and keep doing your best to offer a variety of foods. The food that made a difference for us was a very, very large piece of well done steak.
