Hello!

Does anyone have any tips for applying nail polish to fingernails that doesn’t chip? I used to love doing my nails, but with everything I do now, they get chipped within a day…

  • There might be some type of coating you can put on them.

  • Don’t go and buy cheap cheap nail polish. If you buy a better brand such as OPI you can get them on sale for $10 at times and apply 2 coats with a clear coat it lasts so much better. I always have my nails painted, it is my one guilty pleasure

  • Put 2 coats of nail polish ( allowing first coat to dry before applying next one ) and one coat of either clear top coat or nail hardener. Ususally you will find them all in the nail polish section of the dept stores . My nails are soft and breaks easily so I cant have my nails too long and only wear it on special occasions .

  • Put 2 coats of nail polish with one coat of top coat polish. I find my nails last longer if there is a top coat otherwise they chip within two days . Nowadays I use nail harderners more as my nails are soft and brittle . Try brands such as OPI or Sally Hansens as they are quite good . I heard the new one Essie which is only $2 is not too bad either .

  • Make sure your nails are clean, apply a base and top coat or use shellac or gel.

  • I have started using the Gel polish and it stays on a lot longer.

  • Shellac lasts really long and makes up for cost in its longer wearing time.

  • I have used faberge ceramic glaze nail polish for over 15 years now. I paint the top and the underside of my nails and I paint on up to 6-10 coats over the week. Then it lasts just like the Gell ones. I give myself three coats then apply the colour coat then the clear again building up a glass like finish. Cost is about $9-12 from all good chemists.
