  • Start in unpopulated areas like car parks and industrial estates on Sundays. Ensure you book your child in for some professional areas (no doubt the requirements have changed since we went for our licenses). And most of all, stay calm and try not to get frustrated or edgy- it will just make the experience worse for your child 🙂

  • valium?? 😛 seriously if you don’t have the confidence to do it DON”T, pay for lessons instead. Also if you are one of these people that think it’s ok to “forget” your indicator frequently, speed because your in a hurry or break any road rules just because you think you have a right to a licence and the rules are stupid blah blah so you can do what you want, then for pete’s sake pleeeease don’t teach your kid to drive!

  • Yes dont do it hire someone!!!

  • Start them off in industrial carparks on weekends. When you start on the road, keep away from peak hour times. Lots of patience and keep your log book up to date.

  • If your child has about 5 paid lessons contact your local council they may have a program called L2P which they can sign up 4 it is free and volunteer drivers will take them out in a learner driver car and mentor them it is a program endorsed by the RTA, it is definately worth checking it out as the offer about 7- 8 free lessons, good luck to your young learner

  • Get someone else to do it

  • Lol let their father take them until they are comfortable. . That’s what I did. With my son I’ll have no issues he drives around my parents farm on a large Council size lawn mower which he reverse parks in the craziest spots

  • .

  • A professional instructor for the kid and a BIG bottle of vodka for mum n dad

  • I made my dad wait until i had 2 professional driving lessons before he could take me out as i wanted to learn correctly from an instructor. I did a lesson every second week, and in between he would take me out driving to practise what i learnt in my lessons. First off in quieter areas- and as i grew more confident we went to busier roads. So grateful he was happy to help! Mum was too paranoid to teach, ive been off my P’s for two years now and she still rarely lets me drive her around!
But keep cool, dont get cranky and your kid will be fine 🙂

  • Pay someone else to do it.

  • Wine. Full stop. Wine.

  • Im not sure how it is in other States but here in QLD the kids have to do 100hours of driving with an adult before they can sit for there test. It takes a long time and it costs a lot. If you can get them a few lessons with a driving school as that really helps and they are more likely to listen to someone else.
Personally i dont like taking my kids out to learn to drive….thankfully I took 3 kids and never had a mishap but it always concerned me that if something happened I couldnt slam on the breaks. I made a rule with the kids that if i yelled BREAK then they needed to break…do not question me just do as you are told. If they messed up with this rule then there would be no more lessons from me.

  • Pay for lessons lol!!

  • At least five lessons with a driving instructor before going out on the road is a great help with confidence for the learner and less stress on the parent

  • A few driving lesson to start with and as they have their confidence do a defensive driving course

  • Sonia Stewart

  • Yes, find a paddock or big empty car park and let them learn how to steer first. Then teach them gears. Then teach them to do both, then and only then teach them to drive around objects, then teach them to BRAKE nicely. Then and only then let them loose on a quiet road with traffic and go from there. NO music, ipod or little kids in the car with them.

  • Its expensive, but get them some proffesional lessons, that way they don’t learn your bad habits, and you don’t get stressed!

  • Valium cause you aren’t allowed to be drunk 🙂
