Hello!

I have started making a lot of things myself. Cleaning products, most food and some basic personal products. I have the time and it’s a challenge. But if it’s alot of work and not a big savings I don’t bother. What’s some of your diy things you make?

  • yogurt is my favorite. my kids go through 1kg minimum a week. i make a nice greek yogurt for around 1.40 a kg and it takes around 5min max.love it

  • I’m a bit hit and miss with my DIY’s but when i have the time i make moisturiser, deodorant, bath bombs, toilet bombs, bin fresheners, bread, chicken broth, healthy (no sugar) baked goods like chickpea cookies and eggplant brownies. I also love to bake naughty delights – but limit that to only occasionally.

  • I do a lot of cooking from scratch. I used to have a vegetable garden but gave it up because a lot of things didn’t grow well and I was disheartened.

  • I love making my own vegetable stock, it is delicious and very health. I use it for almost everything I cook.

  • I have a friend who makes her own lollies (jubes) from scratch and also laundry detergent.

  • I’ve just crocheted my daughter a scarf with a ball of yarn that cost me $2.49 at Lincraft. Its lovely and saved her the $40 a similar one was on sale for in Myers.

  • I have also started doing lots of DIY and home repairs; huge savings.

  • Jewelery. I’ve been making earrings, braclets and ankles. Hoping to sell it all.

  • Bake bread, biscuits and cakes; make own meals(take away is so expensive), home made gifts, cards, beauty products and cleaning products, soft furnishings; cushions and other easy projects; vegies in the garden(saves a lot of money). The list goes on…but I have a go at doing and making most things. I also; buy presents that have been made by other Mom’s as I like to support other Mom’s.

  • also flower arrangements, paper, compost, and wall art

  • biscuits, baking, cooking, art, gifts

  • Knitting is always a good option!!

  • All meals, we rarely have takeaways. Biscuits, cakes, muffins.

  • Biscuits, muffins and nut and seed bars. That way we get healthier treats because we know whats in them and we save money too. I can make a batch of muffins for the cost of one from a cafe. Recently started experimenting with home made chocolate spread using nuts, cocoa, vanilla and a bit of sugar. Not necessarily cheaper cos nuts are expensive, but no additives either.

  • cakes and biscuits and slices are great made from scratch too

  • I have to admit something’s are actually cheaper to buy pre made. But if your keen try bread, of course cakes and biscuits , what about perfume using essential oils

  • cleaning products from vinegar and baking soda are very popular in home made things
