  • I have an almost 4 year old and keep thinking of getting his own tablet, more to be able to set good parent controls on it, and still use my phone and ipad for everything that I want. But I’m still undecided. I like the educational side of the apps, and the ivew and you tube advantages are great, when they need a distraction when you are out and about.

  • My daughter has one, it’s great as all kids need to know how to use them. She is 4

  • Yes and not sure why some people think ipads or technology is some evil device that no longer makes our children, children. It’s a learning tool just like all those other kiddie electronics we buy our children, you know the leapfrog ones and all the other varieties. Must be the word ipad that’s so scary?

Ipads can be combined with other activities too 🙂

  • If you can afford it go for it, just teach them to look after it and not to loose it etc.

  • I believe than any educational tool has its value. I do know some schools use them in class and your own is helpful. I am also very much in favour of limiting the time spent in front of any screen as this can lead to eye disease caused through not blinking enough and suffering from dry eye. I believe that books, play and parental involvement are most important to children in their learning phase.

  • As long as its only a few minutes and you still teaching your child how to use a own, pencil properly so they are not using their finger to draw and are reading to them on real books . and making sure they spent a lot of time outside then a few mins is not going to hurt them.
Don’t take it out to tea tho, bring real toys/books that you can play with with your child.

  • Im afraid im old school and feel that they are better without.
Read books to your children, play board games, let them move

  • My 3 year old has her own ipad but it was brought for her as she is autistic. I personally think even if a child doesnt have autism they do have benefits as long as they arent on it 24/7. Its really a personal choice…if you see it will benefit your child then why not!

  • As long as use is limited and they spend time doing things like playing outside etc, I think it’s ok

  • Im ok with my baby having an ipad as long as educational games are played and time is being monitored.
