I’ve 2 kids on gluten free diet and 1 on diary free who are also vegetarian. I found making and baking yourself is cheaper and healthier, as many store bought products are very processed and stacked with sugar. I find Aldi’s gluten free line really bad and Coles homebrand gluten free products are very processed and sugary too. You can find nice recipe’s on” the healthy chef” / Teresa Cutter’s site, also “the healthy home economist”, paleo gluten free sites have nice recipe’s too, as well as “Elena’s pantry”.

PSS gosh so sorry …make sure you use the tin gravy not the box, only the TIN is gluten free.

PS gluten free is dearer than ordinary food, so try and purchase when items go on special and stock up. It’s hard with a family, I wish you all the best and the best of health.

Make your own bread or if you purchase store bought check out all varieties then check the 100g price of each to see the cheapest one and purchase when on special and freeze the loaves. Coles, Woolies and Aldi sell their own brand gf products and are quite reasonable. Also I purchase Gravox Traditional gravy 120g tin it’s gluten free with No added MSG and is cheaper than Orgran Brand and is often on special and is great for thickening meals/sauces.

I am struggling with the same thing but found this book cut out the crap for kids very helpful with basic recipes that the kids love!

There’s lots of websites that are packed with gluten free recipes. I find taste.com.au great fr finding any sort of recipes. You could print them out after you try them and put together a recipe book. Plan your meals in advance.

Its much cheaper to use naturally gluten and dairy free foods rather than processed ones, i.e. rice rather than packaged gluten-free pasta.

I’m with Steph here, there is some great gluten free products you can buy at Aldi. Look out for their “HAS NO” range, affordable gluten free foods (flour, biscuits, pasta etc). Good luck

I have found that eating helathier I actually eat a lot less as it is more filling! I could sit for days eating processed white bread, and now with homemade bread I have two slices (and they are tiny from the machine) and I am done!!!

Try baking your own bread, sadly i think it will always be expensive though

If you find gluten free bread mix, it’s actually cheaper to make bread than to buy. My Mother-In-Law makes her gluten free bread all the time.

I agree with you, It can be very expensive, even bread is around $6 a loaf. It can be so straining on a tight budget
