Hello!

Wondering if any MoM’s had any tips on tonsillitis. My Miss 7, gets reoccurring tonsillitis as a minimum once a month, she is on the waiting list to get them out… but she is allergic to antibiotics (yes all of them all and no she can’t handle them). I was wondering if any MoM’s had ‘home remedies’, we’ve tried a high vitamin C diet (doc recommended it) and gargling salt water. Nothing is working. We use panadol to manage temps and pain relief. Any tips?

  • ask your chemist about betadine throat gargle as it numbs the throat and kills bacteria I used it untill I got mine out.

  • Poor little thing. Try piggy backing nurofen and panadol 2 hours apart from each when the pain is really bad, the chemist can tell you more about this. Also, giving her inner health plus to build up her immune system may help her get rid of a bout faster.

  • I had tonsillitis constantly when I was a child, every 2 weeks I’d go down with it. It would poison my whole system and also attacked my kidneys. Once I had them out I never had a problem with it again. If you can pressure the system some how and get the tonsils out asap Even take her to ER when the temps are right up, you might be able to get in quicker that way.Keep up the liquid pain killers and easy things to eat. Poor kid, I know her pain 🙁 Good luckxx

  • Betadine throat gargle, also gargle aspro clear before swallowing. Also gargling berocca helps immensely as it gets nutrients directly to that area. I developed an allergy to antibiotics waiting for wisdom teeth extraction and was pushed up the list due to this. Good luck.

  • strepsols the ones for children

  • Their is a mouth wash you can buy which has a strong numbing agent in it. Just check at your chemist and make sure it’s for kids too

  • poo kid.. cant you borrow from someone to get it done privately> for any child to be left sick in pain is just not right.

  • Vitamin c, zinc, echenea (sorry spelling) and orderless garlic is great. I suffered countless ear infections and antibiotics wouldn’t touch them but this worked within two weeks. The doctor gave me antibiotics again but I took the other and went back two weeks later and my infection was gone. I stayed on it for a while and they didn’t come back

  • Maybe try colidal silver, they used it as an antibiotic before antibiotics were created. It is very good topically in my experience and you can take a small dose daily too.

  • Betadine Throat gargle helps. I’m 27 and just got mine out this year. Find a Private surgeon that will do it in a public hospital. I only waited a month then. You just pay the surgeons fee which u get a good chunk Medicare rebated back. Good luck and I feel for her xxx

  • Amy Amy Nietschke

  • Go to a kinesiologist

  • I’d be pushing to get her moved up the list, she’d have to be a priority not being able to take AB’s

  • thank you so much she actually has it at the moment so we’ll try some tip out thank you again

  • Probioyics. Naturopathics. Pure essential oils.

  • Charlene can you help?

  • Gargling apple cidar vinegar and perhaps an alkali diet (low in processed foods and grains). Most virus’s and bacteria struggle to live in an alkali environment.

  • Remove milk from her diet, or use A2 milk. My 2nd daughter suffered tonsillitis constantly.

  • avoid chocolate at all costs. it spurs on tonsilitis in kids.

  • Try an elimination diet. You might find that her immune system is down as it is fighting everyday foods. You might also find that there is other symptoms as well. Not sure how she reacts to antibiotics but that can be a good sign that she is intolerant to something in them
