We had the same thing! If your breastfeeding maybe put some more fibre in your diet. Help keep bub hydrated by feeding bub more water. And we also tried a tiny bit of pear juice or prune juice in the water. Gripe water is a little more like caramelised water so I felt not so good giving that to bub. I also encouraged pureed pear. But the thing that honestly helped the most was the water. 🙂 hope this helps xoxo

A friend of mine took her son to the Dr. when he was about 3 y.o. Between them they worked out that he was busy playing so he “held on” for long enough that he didn’t feel he needed to go.
Then when he did eventually go, the moisture and leeched back out and his stools had gone hard and hurt when he passed them. It became as cycle of behaviour as he realised it hurt. She dosed him with a laxative for a couple of days. Then they ended up using a star reward system until awhile after he got into a proper routine of going when he knew he needed to instead of “hanging on” because he was too busy playing. Unfortunately it isn’t as easy as telling them to go and do a “wee”. That can take some persuasion too

Yep totally common, my daughter swollowed a $2 coin just before new year, she has that issue and it took 12 days to pass it and that was with a little help on my part. And Xrays to make sure it was not trapped. I have found there is a powder you can buy from the chemist called osmo lax which helps with that isssue. It doesnt help with the plug but it helps with the aftermath of it keep it regular… It took my daughter 12 days to pass the coin ( according to the doc it should of took 3 to 6 days on average).

My son was like that and all I can advise is plenty of water and fiver. You’ve proberly heard it a thousand times but hopefully with age his body will adjust.

Water, water, water. Make sure your little one has access to a drink of water at all times. Make sure you stop play for regular sips as well. Good luck with it.

yes , just like adults, need plenty of fresh fruits and vegies , such as bananas and greens etc, fluids especially water and a general healthy diet such as fibre and wholemeal . An apple a day keeps the doctor away ( they say )

It certainly isn’t uncommon. We found lots of fresh fruit and chocolate balls (hidden prunes) helped when we had problems. Also try to get them to drink lots of water.

More fresh fruit and lots more liquid – this always helped with my children, but it is a very common problem.

I agree with the comment to increase fluid. We ensure our toddler always has access to bottles of water. Also breakfast everyday at our house is oats or weet bix with fruit and we have never had any constipation issues.

Yes, it’s common. Increase water intake and French fruit and veg (this ca be hard). If you can, and oats (plain quick oats) to most recipes and try offering cooked oats at brekky.
