Hello!

I’d like to cook a meatloaf for my Dad and family but want one that is traditional ( not a heap of spices etc). Can anyone help with a trusted recipe?

  • well, yep I sure can… the challenge is finding the recipe (about 4o years old)… Don’t go way x

  • 500 gm Mince Meat
1 packet french onion soup mix
    2 tbls Tomato paste
    1 egg
1/2 cup of bread crumbs …homemade chunky breadcrumbs are best
    1 cup of mixed veggies
1 Tbls mixed herbs …. it’s nice to have some herbs

Mix all together and bake until firm to touch
    * I like to place 2 shelled whole hard boiled eggs in the middle of the mix….it’s very effective when you slice it

  • Great. With the more pants like quality originating from leggings, there is no compelling reason to just wear long thigh-length shirts with them any longer. Visit http://www.showpo.com/

  • I’m not sure how traditional my recipe is because I made it up myself while using left over ingredients, lol.

    Ingredients

    500gms Lean Mince Meat
1/2 packet french onion soup mix
    1 egg
    1 cup of oats
1 cup of frozen mixed vegies

Mix it all together in a bowl and pour into a loaf time. Bake for approx 30 minutes at 200 degrees.

  • I would do a google search in the womans weekly cook book for this type of recipe

  • 500g Beef mince, 1 brown onion, 3 rashes of bacon, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup of tomato sauce.

Cook onion and bacon in pan until onions become translucent.
in a bowl put your beef mince and add the cooked onion and bacon and stir through.
add the eggs and tomato sauce and mix throughly.

Pop in a load baking tin and bake in the oven at 190 degrees for 50 minutes or until you insert a clean knife into the centre and it comes out clean.

  • with the egg, does it have to be cooked egg or raw egg?

  • OH this is great! I love cooking! This sounds yum! I used to make that work although I totally forgot how. Im copying your recipe :-)

  • half kilo mince, half kilo of sausage mince (if you can get it – if not just double the mince) diced onion, I grate extra veggies in like zuccini and carrot to bulk it out, add about a cup of bread crumbs, one to two eggs to help bind it and maybe a pinch of minced garlic. I chuck in some tomato paste and some worstershire sauce. Mould into a lump and bake it. You can also cover it with bacon strips.

  • My meatloaf is just sausage meat and l pat it out flat l put tomato paste and chopped bacon on top and roll it up like a jam roll and cook for 1 hour. Nice and simple but probably not what you are after. I think the old recipes had half sausage mince and half mince steak. onion, breadcrumbs, egg, not sure what else is in there.

  • Bestrecipes website has lots of home recipe. Just check the reviews and pick the recipe that sounds like the type of meatloaf you want to cook.
