Hello!

My lawn is artificial but my dog continues to go to the toilet on it. Any tips for how to stop this from happening?

  • I would talk to a vet or a professional trainer for advice.

  • Try the training pads and move it away from the area

  • there are lots of herb that deter pets.

  • Call the rspca

  • Am following this one will be interested to see the responses

  • there is something available at pet stores to try to help teach dogs where to go – it is like a scent stick that you pop in the ground

  • Sprinkle pepper on any areas you don’t want the dog to go on. And go to a lawn business and buy a metre square of preprepared lawn, and encourage your dog to go on that, in a corner of the yard.

  • Lol I often wondered what you do with fake lawn and dogs. I wish they could take themselves to the toilet it would be wonderful. I suppose you would just have to let them go on it, it does depend if they have real grass or not. Maybe ask a professional.

  • our local pet store has quite a few products – maybe ask at yours as they also have sticks which are supposed to help them go in one area (where you want them to).

  • I was actually thinking about artificial turf but never gave any thought to how to deal with my dog going to the toilet. Must post l have read on this talk about trying to keep the dog of completely. That isn’t any good as the dog has to be able to move around the yard. Maybe a patch of real grass in one part of the yard for the dog to go on is all l can think of.

  • if your lawn is not real than where can it go? any way show it where it can go and reward the dog when it does so this means after it has eaten and such take it to the toilet but the area for the dog must have such a place it can use and also get the grass clean and odour out as your dog with smell it and still go there so it just alot of retraining

  • sprinkle some pepper over it for a few days and then vacuum off when you dog learns to go elsewhere

  • i hope you found a good dishwasher

  • i hope you have a comp

  • there are some good comments here

  • i hope you get the answers you were looking ofr

  • Have you a place for it to go???
I would check with your vet as there are products that you can spray that would deter him from certain areas.

  • Its got to go somewhere so where else can it? better than your carpet.

  • Train the dog to go where you want it to go , You must decide where and reward the dog for it’s efforts.

  • make sure your dog is aware that this is bad behaviour and show him where he is allowed to go. positively reinforce the correct behaviour.
