In the past I have surprised my kids with a teddy or similar, but this year I put together a pink and red sweet treat grazing board to surprise them with – strawberries cut into hearts, pink Oreos, red gummies, raspberries, red licorice + pink lamingtons. It turned out really cute and they loved it!

This is not something we have experienced in our household. We always go out for a special meal but we do not necessarily buy merchandise. We simply enjoy spending time together. There is a lot of very eye appealing merchandise that does get released for Valentines Day and Easter and I can see the appeal.

My husband and I stopped celebrating it a while back- after we realised that it’s more of a marketing thing than actually about confirming your love for each other. This can be done daily. My daughter and I did some arts and crafts which was nice and my son doesn’t really care too much about it.
