Vitamin B12 Injections - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

My Dr GP wants me to have Vitamin B12 Injections as they are very low. Has anyone had them done and was wondering if they really work or not.

  • I have heard that the injection does help if you have a genuine deficiency. They are apparently very effective at raising low B12 levels and can improve symptoms like fatigue, weakness and nerve issues caused by the deficiency. They are not a general energy booster, but when B12 is low, they can make a difference.

  • No I haven’t had one but I’ve been interested reading about those that have. I take vit b tablets – they are by RN labs and have 1000 strength
You place one under your tongue and let it dissolve to absorb quickly into your body. They are tasty and so I actually look forward to taking them

  • A decade ago, I was given a regime of B12 injections because I was low in B12. My doctor arranged for me to have daily injections for a fortnight, then twice weekly injections for 2 months and then once a week for 6 months. This helped me although it took a while to notice. My annual blood test now includes a check of my B12 levels and I take a daily B12 pill. I recommend you follow your doctor’s advice.

  • I would be inclined to follow your GPs advice – they generally know what they’re doing. I’ve never had a B12 injection, but every time we have been recommended to have a supplement or transfusion, it has helped significantly. Plus, so far as I’m aware, one injection couldn’t do you any harm if she/he is wrong.

  • I had one of these a few years ago and found it amazing, it was really helpful and i recommend getting it done if your doctor has suggested it however please do your research before agreeing just to make sure it is right for you as i know these can cost money to have.

  • I have actually just had them done recently but the Dr GP only gave me 3 B12 Injections but to me I have not seen much of a difference as yet they say it gives you more energy well I have a little extra bit not to the extent of like running here and there flying off the walls hahaha

  • Have not had the B 12 injections myself but a friend has had numerous ones and says that they do boost her energy etc., and she does feel the benefit from receiving the injections on a regular basis as she has many medical conditions that warrant her needing to have them.
