I had ‘the talk’ with my daughter when she was ten years old. I tried to be as informative as possible without being too graphic. She had some questions which I answered and I feel that it went well.

I was lucky because Personal Development classes took care of that. I also bought a book which my child read and asked questions about. My husband would have been mortified if he had to talk about ‘things like that’ with our son.

We didn’t have to discuss that as my kids knew about through Personal Development classes at school and they told me more than I expected and I am sure they know more than what we do .

depends on whether they are nearing puberty so that they get an idea of what to expect about it all. very hard topic to discuss but they have to be aware

Talk about different answers! I think there are way too many of us still feeling squeamish about discussing this until it’s too late! It doesn’t make them go out & have sex, but it may just help them not become pregnant or create a pregnancy at 14!

If a 10yo has a period, then a 10yo can get pregnant.

This was never discussed to me as s child .. Or my husband so we found this s little hard .. But I think girls around 11/12 and Boys the same .. The good thing is its now incorporated at school at s young age kids don’t feel weird if they are in a whole class learning

I think it depends on their maturity level. My boy is 9 and know that babies grow in tummies but doesn’t know how they get in there. Both my boys (4 and 9) were born by c section and know the doctor cut them out of my stomach so I think that’s just what they assume happens to everyone lol after my 9 year old said “gee i’m glad I’m not a girl”.

Depending on their age and how much you want them to know. When I was expecting number 3 I showed a video to the older two called ” Where Do I Come From” this answered most of their questions as was having trouble explaining how the baby got in there to a 2 and 4 year olds. With the others they just learnt as the questions came from them or from their siblings. Learn not to ask YR 1 teacher what she was teaching the children when number 2 at 5 asked “what colour are human eggs” her face went red. We had moved and our chickens were getting more veggies in their diet so the yolk changed colour. It was a 2 teacher school so yr 1-3 were in same class and yr 1 could look around the library while others did lessons.

my friend told me the other day her 10 year old had her first period, a bit scary for her still in primary school as she had not learnt anything at all and the mum was caught out unprepared.
I have told my kids so far when you are a adult over 20 or so when you love some one and want kids you have a baby that grows in mummies tummy. But nothing of how it happens. Although my daughter one day saw me change something when she walked into the toilet and she asked me why and i told her its something that happens to mums when they are old enough. I will fill in the gaps when they are older.

Kids sure do know more then we did at the same age. I tend to start talking about this when they started to ask questions

OMG I am SO dreading this. My daughter is 8 now and I think she would FREAK OUT! I’m thinking about 10 in my mind.
