Hello!

My mini is 12 months old and currently has 6 teeth and I’m unsure when to introduce toothpaste. Obviously when I can teach her to spit it out is the answer I’m expecting ???? Also any recommendations on natural toothpastes?

  • You can start quite early with baby tooth paste. It can take quite a while till they can spit out tooth paste. My 9yr old has Down Syndrome and still swallows her tooth paste

  • We started at about eight months, I think. And our dentist recently told us NOT to spit.

  • U cam start from now with kids tooth brush and paste

  • You can start from 6 mths just a little bit though

  • We use the ‘milk’ toothpaste that is suitable for baby teeth. I started using that with my little ones as soon as they had teeth :-)

  • There are toothpastes for babies/toddlers and I was advised to start brushing their teeth as soon as they get them, especially if they have milk at night time. The kids toothpaste you only need a tiny amount and they dont need to spit it out

  • You can get toothpaste that is labelled Milk Teeth? I would only used a very tiny amount, either on a toothbrush or on one finger provided your finger nails aren’t long and ends filed very smooth. Babies tend to swallow anything you put in their mouths unless they don’t like the taste of it.
Many home made toothpastes tend not to be smooth texture.

  • Around 18 months, with a really tiny amount of toothpaste

  • There are age appropriate toothpastes in the supermarkets and chemists. Check them out
