  • I can’t really recall but it was never a sit down and tell them thing, they gradually found out through friends at school and then they asked us. Our grandson found out at school recently when he was about 8-9. The other one is that age now and still believes.

  • I didn’t really pick an age but it did usually happen around age 12… I find when the kids reach year 5 or 6 someone always blabs and ruins it for the others. Sadly for my kids it was the teacher! She assumed everyone at that age already knew! I try not to ‘lie’ to my kids so when they start asking questions and seem ready and determined to have an answer I think it’s best to be honest and tell them that they will still get the magic of Santa but now they are old enough to carry that magic for younger kids.

  • The key thing for us was to not make it a big issue and let the children lead the conversation about Santa which also led onto other conversations about the tooth fairy and others. It was an opportunity for the children to do some reflective thinking and to land with an answer that worked for them.

  • Hmm im not sure if an age is something id go buy as it depends on the child and where they’re at. For me, i would let it naturally happen when they tell you they know the truth or when you feel like theyre ready to hear it or have heard friends talking about it

  • This actually just evolved over time and the children wanted to keep believing in Santa and the fun around Christmas time. We were very happy to go with it too for some magic and fun during the festive season. We went a light and sensitive chat about what do you believe and they went with Santa!

  • Officially I told my eldest when he was 18, and the middle kid when he was 15 – but that was mostly because I was trying to maintain the magic for my youngest! I knew good and well that they knew santa was me well before I ‘fessed up. The youngest was 11 when I told her.
