I don’t think it’s a matter of age, but a matter of when your child shows the signs to be ready for toilet training.

Many children show signs of being ready for potty training between ages 18 and 24 months. However, others might not be ready until they’re 3 years old. There’s no rush. If you start too early, it might take longer to train your child.

I am also interested in this. So many people tell you so many different things. Someone told me that I should start putting my 8 month old on a potty when I can tell he is doing a poo. I think 8 months seems too young??

Erm, I would imagine it’s different for each child as each child is different! I guess they’re ready when they’re showing signs of being interested in using the toilet, and have some basic communication to let you know when they need to go or to understand what you’re telling them.

Haha oh gosh we have a 16month old and that’s not happening in our house! He has started becoming aware when is is weeing or pooing but isn’t close to doing it on his own. When he wees in the bath I tell him what he’s done and once I asked if he needed to do a wee so I sat him on the toilet and he went. I cheered and he looked confused lol. But it hasn’t happened since so we’ll take it as it comes. By 3 works g hard on toilet training could be good if it hadn’t happened. Don’t feel pressured yet, each kid is there own person and develops differently.

it’s really up to the child. My oldest was 2 and 9 months when he was toilet trained and my youngest is 2 and a half and I will be starting him shortly. I know some kids that are 3 – 4 years old before they have any interest in going to the toilet.

Who on earth told you that? haha as the other mummies have said, take the cues from your child. Every child is different.

I would try 2&half my Daughter just woke up and said l’m a big girl now l don’t need nappies anymore we had a few boo boo’s to start with but now no problem’s

you have to go by the readyness of your child. it varies between kids. no need to rush, they will get there. just take it slow.

We waited till our son was 3. He wasn’t ready before then. He went straight to the toilet (no potty) and never had an accident. I was happy we waited.
