  • I myself are vegetarian and never introduced meat.
You can introduce meat into your baby’s diet, once your baby is between 7-8 months of age. Ideally, pediatricians recommend the age between 8-10 months for introducing meat. Stay away from processed meats like ham bacon devon salami etc, they’re not suitable for babies (and maybe also not for adults lol).

  • I probably introduced meat at 6-8 months. I reckon I went by what you could buy in jarred baby food for the different ages

  • from 6 months, bub will enjoy puree

  • Your early childhood nurse will be able to give you the current guidelines.

  • It seems to have changed over the years. With my eldest it was around 1, but with my youngest I was told from 6 months. I introduced chicken first which I steamed with veges and puréed

  • Thanks its good to know :)

  • yeah i thought that i was 9 months but maybe google to be sure

  • I think the old guidelines for meat were from 8-9 months, however now meat is fine from 6 months.

  • Awesome its good to find out from other experienced mothers thanks

  • Around 9 months mashed into soups and stews.

  • I would agree not before 6 months old due to their body not been ready to process the meat and only then if it had been finely pureed and mixed with other things. then slowly built up in textue over time when they will not struggle to process it. My three kids took to it at different times from six to eight month old. My youngest took 8 months the longest for to take to meat but that was all homemade. Sadly the next two kids had a mix of shop purchased and homemade and they took to it a lot quicker at 6 months

  • From my understanding, they can have chicken, tuna, red meat etc from about 6-8 months.

  • I think the current recommendation is 6- 8 months. Check with your maternal health nurse as the recommendations change

  • Never! Our kids are fruitarian, beautiful, well-nourished, healthy, happy little angels that do not come with all the issues kids have when you give them dead animal carcasses to gnaw upon.
