Forum What age for boy/girl twins to sleep apart?

My twins turn 4 next month and share a double bed. The double bed because they wanted to be close to each other when sleeping. We are now wanting to put them into their own single beds. They do not share the same top covering but still want the security of being able to touch the other one. Will be staying in the same room until older or willing to be apart.

  • It seems they still draw comfort of each others presence and so I would wouldn’t split them at this point and wait till they’re ready

  • I wouldn’t push this too hard. Up until she was seven, my daughter occassionally liked to climb into bed with her big brother. I don’t have a problem with small kids sharing a bed. They just want comfort and reassurance.

  • Sorry I can’t help you as I have not experienced twins.

  • I see no issue with 4 year olds sharing a double bed but fully understand why you want to be putting them in their own bed
