What age did your little ones move from a cot to a big kid bed? My oldest is 2.5yrs old and still in a cot!

  • No problem keeping them in if it helps you!

  • My 1st was 3. She never climbed or of cot. My boy is just 2 and thinking of soon because he can get out of cot

  • I shifted my kid when i remove her diaper off age the age of 2.5

  • I moved all of mine around 2 years old. But do whatever works for you and your family. There’s no rule to it :)

  • If you are moving your child while pregnant it is definitely best to do it at least a couple of months before your new baby comes home if you can if you are planning to use the cot then. There is much less risk of jealousy. I know one family who introduced the new bed early at 20 months for that reason. Initially the toddler was reluctant to sleep in her bed so they put the cot mattress on the floor next to her bed. Initially she would willingly have a short day nap in her bed but slept on the mattress at night. By the end of the 2nd week she was sleeping in her own bed all the time, stayed in it all night and started to try to move the mattress away from her bed herself.

  • When they were ready, my daughter was 2 but my son was closer to 3

  • my eldest was 18 months(moved into a toddler bed), middle child was 19 months(moved into a single bed) and youngest was 12 months(moved into single bed, 6 months later we was moved into a double bed). I personally found they fell asleep and stayed asleep so much better

  • My child was over three years of age before she moved into her own bed.

  • My eldest at 21 months. She was a climber and despite dropping to cot to the lowest point, she would climb up and didn’t know how to get down. So we co slept on 2 separate single mattresses until she happily slept constantly through. Honestly she slept 100% better after transitioning. Baby 2 still under 1

  • We moved both of ours at around 18 months, I know it seems early but they were getting very difficult to put to sleep and re-settle if they woke up where when we had them in the single bed, we could lay down with them and go to sleep – it was a sanity saver!! We also moved them because they were moving around a lot and hitting their heads which was why they were waking up. The first 1-2 nights were difficult but they transitioned very well after that!!

  • Every child is different. Some kids settle better in a cot. Personally I think when it becomes unsafe (because the child starts climbing out) it’s time to move to a bed.

  • By 3. Have a look what’s out there. Might inspire you and your two year old! Do it in a time when you’re prepared for putting back into bed. Any wandering. Make the whole experience great, growing up! Fun!

  • My son is 2.5 and he is still in a cot. He moves around to much plus we dont have the room for a single bed for him just yet.

And webput our daughter in a bed when she was 3.5 as she was getting to big for the cot..

  • As our cot converted to a toddler bed, we moved our son in a bed on his 3rd birthday. He has always been a great sleeper and he moves around a lot so it was a move that needed to happen and he was ready for it.

  • I moved my caught at 2. It was probably way too early but we had another baby on the way so needed the cot. We went from 7 pm bedtime to 11pm. It was a nightmare. It took almost a year to get sleep back on track. I would keep them in as long as it’s safe without them trying to climb out

  • Our daughter was 21 months. We just moved her when she was sleeping right thru the night so we knew she wouldn’t get up at all and get out of bed. We haven’t had any issues for the 3 months she has been it. We brought her an ikea extendable bed so it’s just a little bit bigger then her cot so she probably doesn’t feel lost in this huge bed. It will extend in size as she grows.

  • I bought a big cot, 148 cm long. My daughter slept in there from the day she was born till she was ten years old! :-)
