  • Replace kitchen and bathroom cupboard doors or repaint. new handles heklp to change the look also.
Tidy and refresh gardens with nice edging and add pebbles, mulch or wood chips.

  • Repainting rooms in neutral bright colours, good flooring, and landscaping also has a massive ‘first impressions’ impact.

  • Painting makes a big difference in a neutral colour. Landscaping your yard, putting in adequate lights, even solar will do the job. Updating the kitchen cabinets with painting if needed.

  • Agree with repainting and changing door handles. Makes a huge difference. Even repainting kitchen cabinets is almost like a brand new kitchen. And also replacing the kitchen exhaust if yours is looking really gross. They can be less than $200.

  • Painting is an easy thing, changing door handles, declutter, freshen up decor

  • Painting gives you the most bang for your back other wise things like creating curb appeal with nice front gardens and lighting can have a big impact without a huge budget

  • Make sure everything is clean and uncluttered.
This is the number one rule.
    Then repair anything broken.

  • Having just been through the process of selling our house and buying a new home; some stand out points are 1.) fresh coat of paint throughout – preferably in neutral shades, 2.) good window coverings (keep heat/cool in/out, 3.) well maintained garden areas, 4.) a usable al fresco area (deck/under cover eating area, 5.) open plan to make rooms appear larger (if they are quite small individually), 6.) create more storage where possible, 7.) repair fences where needed.

  • Back yard deck.

  • We have just bought more cupboards in the kitchen so we can have more extra room. The cupboards were white and we covered them in vinyl contact and it looks so much better and we have increased some of the value of our house.

  • Fresh coat of paint especially doors and door frames clean the windows also fly wires clean replace if needed. Update your bedding a nice quilt cover get rid of any crappy furniture and declutter rooms especially the living areas to make look bigger. Look at the kitchen and paint cupboards and replace door handles, don’t spend too much just a general clean especially the bathroom new shower curtain if shabby. Make sure you have nice plants in as you want to make it inviting from the road, also some nice indoor plants. Watch shows that do makeovers to see what they do for ideas for your property. You don’t want to spend too much as you want to do cosmetics your selling not staying.

  • A really thorough clean, some gardening, a fresh coat of paint, some new window treatments.

  • I would give it a good clean and a re-paint if it needs it. Unless it is in bad condition I wouldn’t spend too much as it might be worth it if it is being bought as buy and demolish project and people don’t to pay much more than council rate value

  • The first thing I would do as an amateur is freshly coat the walls and ceilings with a new coat of paint after of course washing them down with a good cleaner – Bunnings will help here. Then make sure the garden is neat and tidy – get rid of old deadwood and perhaps replant with a new theme. Watch shows like Better Homes and Gardens, etc. to come up with more ideas for amateurs.

  • Look at the trends at the moment or maybe choose a style that you could decorate to. Declutter and change little things can help.

  • Oh gosh, we are not handy either, I would get a professional.

  • Declutter then general paint, update curtains and light fixtures these are basic things but you would be surprised at how much value this adds. Ensure the gardens are tidy and maintained.

  • Painting does wonders. Also changing door handles or kitchen cabinet handles can make a difference too. I recently joined the “Bunnings mums” facebook page and the DIY things people do is amazing.

  • A fresh coat of paint and a declutter of the whole house. If/when you put the house of the market buyers need to be able to see their things in the space not yours. On the outside I always look for a well kept neat garden/lawn.

  • Firstly as a person who is in the market to buy I am noticing finishes on things – make sure if painting you tape the skirting boards etc to get a nice clean finish so it looks professional – a fresh coat of paint does wonders. Lots of power points in the kitchen, as a gadget girl I need lots of power points in the kitchen to cater for all those appliances. Polish floor boards, take a look under the carpet and see what you have as a potential selling point in the future – floor boards look amazing, and are great to easy to clean surfaces. Kitchen cupboards/laundry storage – storage is key – secret compartments, laundry chutes, lots of cupboards under stairs are a great way to add value for a future sale.
