Why not just a single bed with a side rail?
They are lower to the ground so safer if children fall out of bed.
For us, it was that I found the most gorgeous princess toddler bed that I knew my daughter would love at a super cheap price secondhand. It was low to the ground, had high sides and meant not needing to buy a new mattress.
