My daughter was the same. Not sure if she had her jaw broken, I don’t think so, but she was knocked out in hospital for it. Soups and smoothies were great

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, it was anything that can fit through a straw! Horrible but I got through it!

anything soft that she doesn’t have to chew much. Also nothing too hot or cold, as I remember that being painful too.

i doubt highly that they will break the jaw as i don’t see how that helps anything. Her teeth aren’t doing overly crazy things. They will have to cut into her gum to get it out though but she will not notice this. if the surgery is going to be complicated, they will knock her out (with medication) She will be able to have soups (anything liquid) and boiled eggs. You will receive information and food suggestions. She will be alright

I had my wisdom teeth removed prior to them coming up (at the age of 17) and although it was painful i didn’t need to get my jaw broken. I had them removed in a hospital and was bruised all over though

Soups and purées – silly as it sounds, baby food!

i lived on soups, pureed food, porridge when i had mine done. it wasn’t as bad as i thought but having pain killers before meal time and regularly definitely helps with the pain.

Breaking the jaw – that’s sound so painful. I haven’t got much advise for you. But I would think soft food items, nothing that need lots of chewing? like soup, eggs, yoghurt? All the best to your daughter and hope the recovery is quick.

I would talk to the dentist about the procedure so you know exactly what they are doing! My wisdom teeth were impacted under the bone but I certainly did not have my jaw broken (that sounds awful 🙁 They should also have a list of suitable foods for afterwards.

Soup, mousse, mashed potato/pumpkin, yoghurt, hummus, cottage cheese, bananas, scrambled eggs, noodles. Good luck!!

Try fruit sorbets- really cold but nourishing

Hello, I’d check the breaking the jaw thing with the dentist. I think if they are growing sideways they call this impacted and they may sort of chisel them out of the jawbone but not break the bone. I had all 4 out no probs but they were not impacted. Soft foods like soup, icecream, jelly and non chewing foods – nothing sharp like crackers or corn chips! I was given a prescription for panadine forte so spent a lot of time sleeping and not in a lot of pain. It’ll work out

Soups are best, you could try pumpkin, some bone marrow soup, tomato soup etc. Soft foods like porridge or yoghurt could also be beneficial.

Soup and jelly is what my partner had when he had his out. Goodluck!

I had my wisdom teeth out as a adult at 37 i was given panadine forte to kill the pain, the cheeks were sore for a week. and only tender when something chewy got stuck there after that. I agee luke warm non chewy foods are the best and non painful ideas. Remind her not to chew with the back of her mouth till pain is gone. steer clear of foods that may sting like vegimite for the first week or so… You will know when she is better as all she will want to do is eat.

Soft foods like yoghurt, custard, jelly are good. She probably won’t be able to have very cold foods like ice cream, soup is good but should be lukewarm.

The oral surgeon is not as brutal as that! In most cases they dissect the tooth & elevate the pieces out! There maybe some swelling & bruising but keep the ice packs up,
on the hour for the first 24 hrs will help. You may find she will prefer fluids & anything that she can suck through a straw will be easier. Panadol 4 hourly should help any discomfort in the first 24 hrs too.
