A nanny should be willing to do any and all domestic activities related to the children, including cleaning their rooms, doing their laundry, entertaining them, disciplining them, teaching them manners and caring for them when they are sick or upset.

I would expect a Nanny would do whatever you ask. Place I. Your job ad exactly what you’re looking for, that way you’ll only have people apply that are prepared to do what you ask. As far as pay goes, no idea, Google it

Make sure you get a police check and check her references. Not sure on pay, depends if its cash in hand or on the books. Less if cash in hand. Also depends if you want general housework done or meals prepared. The main thing is if you feel comfortable and you can talk to her easily. That way any problems or requests or questions are dealt with quickly and easily. Mine went to family daycare and had the one lady look after them for 3 years. Got lucky!

I would be very nervous about leaving a child that cant talk with a stranger.

I think Rach’s advice is American, i.e. the Federal minimum wage here is not $7.25/hour, nor would you be expected to pay for your nanny’s health insurance!
