I think saffron and turmeric is the yellow colouring that appears on a lot of Indian rices. I would look up recipes if you are using these spices as too much of it will turn out not so good. You can do Google search on this as well , as I am sure you will find something simple instructions .
That would be ground saffron. Usually it’s in longish threads, still yellow in colour,mand it’s very expensive so. Lucky you don’t need to use much in a recipe
I find saffron very expensive, but I really love it. Risotto with saffron is so good. In India they use saffron on sweets. I actually tried once a cake made with saffron. I thought it was a weird combination, but it actually turned out to be very good!
It comes in a little pack and lasts a long time as you only use a few strands in cooking as it is very strong in colour. Rice is simply beautiful and yellow with saffron.
I have never used it but my sister does in her rice and it’s always really good – nice to look and and to eat. She’s a bit ‘fancier’ than me in the kitchen
