I’ve seen chefs cook steak 2 different ways. Hot pan, oil, put steak in and don not touch until it’s ready to flip. Flip and don jot touch again til ready to remove from pan. Second way is to heat pan, add steak and flip every minute til cooked to your liking.
If you’re looking for a goid frying steak, I would say the rib eye fillet or maybe a scotch or porterhouse. You’re meant to cook them on high heat, really quickly.
My husband would say rib eye fillet is the best, no tiny bit of fat to see ! I cook it in a grill pan. First short on each side in a very hot pan to close and brown it, then both side slow fried, to make it well done.
The best steak is a bit expensive and not really for the BBQ. I use rump, it’s a great all rounder and doesn’t break the budget. I cook it on a high eat, turn only once, and the time on each side depends on how ppl like it cooked.
Look for something with good marbling, thin white lines of fat throughout the meat.
Round steak is nice and lean if you’re watching your weight, but if you want full on flavour, you’re better off going with a porterhouse or sirloin.
They’re healthiest grilled without fats or oils, but again if you’re looking for flavour, you should sear them in butter with a little salt and pepper, over a medium-high heat.
Cook one side for 2 minutes, turn and cook the other side for 2 minutes. The more cooked you want your steak, the longer you leave it for. (obviously, lol)
The best thing to do, is to leave it alone. Try not to move it around too much, or it will dry out and become tough.
Rump steak is a good all rounder, you can fry, stir fry and casserole it. Round and blade steak are mostly for stewing and casseroling. Fillet, eye fillet and sirloin are great for frying.
My fav steak is scotch fillet and I like it med to well done. They used to say cook one side til the blood came out then flip but they now say more frequent flipping is better and you’ll end up with a more succulent steak
I cook my steak on an oiled pan over medium heat until the blood comes to the surface as I like it well done,I outhit sauce on it ,then turn it over,I like it dark brown all over.I put the onion in the pan once it is turned over, cook until dark brown & delicious, yum.
