Hello!

This is my little one’s first Christmas and I’ve made her an Advent calendar of different Christmas books to open and read each day. We will recycle these books each year as a fun family tradition. Interested to hear what sort of advent calendar you have in your house this year?

  • We have a set of 24 little felt stockings, and every year I slip messages in them suggesting different activities – like pay someone a compliment, sing a christmas carol, go look at christmas lights….

  • I have sewn advent calendars for all of my grandchildren with pockets for treats. I make them so they are ready for their second Xmas. Either using my own pattern or buying panels from fabric shops.

  • I bought my husband the Vodka advent calender from Liquor land this year

  • That sounds so lovely RA1234756 !

  • My sister in law made me a lovely reusable felt one of the nativity that we have each year.

  • We did heaps of them this year lol I love them! My daughter had a Disney ooshies calendar, my oldest son had a smiggles calendar, my 2 year old had a paw patrol calendar, I had a chocolate calendar and we have a Disney book calendar. We also just purchased one that you hang up and can add your own little surprises.

  • I bought a lollipop and mentos one this year

  • We did a ring one from lovisa miss 5 loved it

  • There are so many to choose from, but I didn’t have one this year

  • We went with a Frozen folder from Aldi that had 24 books (Stories) for frozen inside. Our daughter loved it and it was only around $18. She gets enough chocolate and I didn’t want to spend heaps on making my own.

  • Just went the kids choc basic calendar and they were a big hit! Actually only a tiny choc and kids were happy. I’ve done the more expensive toy ones in the past but found the cheap choc calendar even more fun for them!

  • We have a set of 24 small stockings. Each year I fill them with different tiny “tags” like: pay someone a compliment tomorrow, choose something to put under the giving tree, have a family hug… We’ve been using them for nearly 15 years now, and the kids love them.

  • I’ve never made an advent calender. On occasion I have purchased the chocolate filled ones, but it’s not every year.

  • Got a storybook one but nothing beats chocolate!

  • I normally do a book advent calendar, that way we can read the book at bed time, this year I found a Disney cars advent calendar which was a huge hit in our house.

  • I just bought a Book calendar for half price. I’ll use it next year.
This year we have the Mickey Mouse baubles calendar. But I’m very disappointed. The quality is no good.

  • Very similar, but i bought the disney princess advent calendar with books. A little regretful as the stories arent too interesting to my near 3 year old (more mature maybe aimed at 5-8 year olds) but i will save it and reuse it when she is older. Might make my own next year

  • I have a lovely old felt one with stick on figures from the christmas story, including baby Jesus, stars, sheep, etc. Little pockets to hold the pieces in. I’d love to make a slightly bigger / stronger one capable of holding little treats, like chocolates (or thought for the day on a scroll) as well as the felt figures. Now there is a project to get the christmas feeligns going!

  • We missed out on getting one this year, but my daughter loves the chuppa chup one.

  • None. They all seem to be such a rip off
