Hello!

Natural Birth? Caesarean? What did you end up having? All 3 labours I had a natural birth and if all goes well with this one I am planning on a natural if I can.

  • I had caesareans, but not by choice

  • I was induced to get contractions going and had a natural birth.

  • Well I had two caesarean births. Not planned that way, but you know about the best laid plans and all.
My first after 19 hours of labour, had to be a Caesar as my son was coming neck first, and he and I almost died. I didn’t see him for nearly two days, as he was in ICU care, I had general and was unable to be “tubed” so made the operation very difficult, (which neither the doctor or I knew) and they had trouble keeping me. My son was ok, and no problems.
My daughter, was an planned Caesar, after the difficulty of the first. I went in two weeks early, and during the night went into labour, but fortunately, the doctor came early & she was born, after much kicking after the catheter was inserted, and the delivery staff couldn’t believe my stomach rocking & rolling with her, kicking etc, cause of the discomfort of it.
I was told by a caring staff member, after my first, – “but you are still a mother, even though you didn’t give birth naturally”, I could have wrung her neck, what did she think, 19 hrs labour & surgery was ? .. a breeze?? I had to keep telling myself .”I too, was a Mum”.
Number two, was planned, so both my husband and myself were together & knew straight away what we had and it was so so so much better, than waking up drowsy and asking many times over “what did I have?”
I’d have loved to have had naturals, but we’re all dealt the cards we’re handed, and don’t ever believe that having a “Caesar” is the easy way out, believe me, the healing and trying to do things with a painful back & stomach is not the greatest, and the “natural” mums are up and waking straight away.
I have two healthly adult children (always your children, at any age), and I’m one happy Mum. X

  • Both natural, although my first had some intervention due to being breech. My second was pain relief free too, which impressed me

  • All natural births, first was induced as well as being a breech birth. Natural is good, but also good to have medical intervention if needed

  • Natural birth – waters broke 1 day before scheduled induction – 26 hour labour, 2 hits of morphine and had gas… also ended up with episiotomy – was a long haul but so worth it

  • We had a natural water birth with only a little use of the gas! (I hated the gas) we had a baby boy weighing 8.3lbs! :-)

  • First bub:

Plan: Natural water birth. No pain relief.
What actually happened: Had to be induced. Had epidural. Still had bub vaginally.

    Second bub:

    Plan: Epidural.
What actually happened: Didnt realize I was already on labor and I was still walking in shopping center. That night, contractions became unbearable and went to birth suite. I went from 4 cm to 9cm in less than 2 hours and only pushed for 10 minutes. No epidural. No pain relief.

    Lesson:
Whatever I plan doesn’t go accordingly.

haha =) hope all goes well for you. no matter what, you will rock it!

  • all natural, no tears etc, no complications, only a bit of gas with first labour and no pain releif with the rest

  • wow remymumma I am glad you ended up with a baby in your arms.

  • I’ve delivered 7 babies. 6 of those vaginally with no real problems, aside from one PPH. The last baby was an emergency C-section due to cord compression and bradycardia. I also developed intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy at 22 weeks with him. Not a fun time.

  • I have two children my first was 6 hour natural labour with gas, second was 17 hours and natural with nothing no gas or anything had two girls one is nearly 4 and my little one has just turned two I am so very lucky how smoothly both my births went and that I have two very special daughters as soon as I held my babies the pain vanished.

  • I had all natural births, only pethidine and gas for one bub and only because he was an undiagnosed breech birth. And one baby I had no pain relief at all. Not saying I’m a hero, that’s just how they ended up going

  • I think MOM165081’s answer was supposed to be somewhere else! :-)

  • one c-section, two vbac and three c-section – my 3 pregnancies were quite different

  • Mine was pretty scary.
Waters broke around 8am, went up to the hospital (45 minute drive) to get checked out, just to be told that I’m in early stages and to head home until contractions are 5 minutes apart.
At around 12:30pm contractions got bad enough, and close enough together that we headed back to hospital, where they told me that I wasn’t dilated AT ALL! So they gave me a shot of morphine for the pain and sent me to the maternity ward to wait it out until I was more dilated. (Morphine did NOTHING!)
Bub was posterior, so I couldn’t sit down or rest at all, so I spent the next 10 or so hours on my knees on the bed or chair. I could feel the painkillers trying to pull me under but I just couldn’t rest, and I was panicking quite a lot so my labour wasn’t progressing.
Finally they sent a midwife in for me, and she was fantastic! She got me calmed down and breathing properly, lying on my side and doing reflexology on me to try and move bub.
I was actually falling asleep between my contractions!
Here is where time got really fuzzy for me, but after a while she said ok, were going to head over to the delivery suite and see whether you have dilated any more- after a REALLY long walk (not far but had 5 contractions while getting there) to find out baby’s head was RIGHT THERE!
So I started pushing and he was here in about 8 minutes (so much for my epidural!).
Because he came so quickly my uterus didn’t contract right away and I had a pretty sever bleed (lost just over 2L of blood) but bub was nice and healthy.
Now 3 months later and we’re all fantastic!

  • I had a c section after a failed induction

  • We have some home made ones – one is a large bowl on top of a strawberry pot – planted out with lobelia – look great and works well too. The other is an old bird bath pedestal (bowl was broken) – our family painted it with a flowery design and we siliconed a large bowl on top – again looks great. I was a bit taken back by the cost of bird baths, so decided to design ones ourselves from things found around our house and things that others had not use for (e.g.: old bird bath pedestal).

If you want to purchase one, Bunnings has quite a good range this time of year.

  • All natural. Thought I would want a c section. So glad I didn’t. They take such a long time to recover from and cause so much pain

  • Hi, I had an emergency caesarean with my son and then a had a Natural Birth with my daughter. Both my kids came early.
