I like toys where the child pushes buttons and it makes different noises, or toys where you have to put the right shape into the right hole. I believe Fisher Price makes a lot of great toys for young babies.

Something with musical lights, things to hold and listen to or suck, fisher price has some great toys that will get the interaction your baby needs

books, plastic containers to bang on, they don’t need much, just simple things they can play, touch and be able to chew on.
