Hello!

Whats best to use in the washing machine? Powder, pods or liquid laundry detergent. I never know if the extra $$ are worth it. What’s your preference and how do you decide? Oh and do you use a fabric softener? I don’t but someone made me feel like I’m doing the wrong thing by not today!

  • I use liquid detergent for the simple fact that there’s no dissolving issues. And I too use fabric softener, just because I like my clothes to fe soft

  • depends what machine you have. ive got a F and P top loader energy efficient one and I find the powder leaves marks on black clothing. so prefer a liquid. doesn’t matter which one as long as its on special. no fabric softner here but I do love it

  • We use washing powder. And we also use a fabric softener. The fabric softener just helps the clean smell stay fresher and for longer I think. :)

  • I love biozet, liquad is better. Doesn’t need to dissolve really like powder, haven’t tried pods so can’t comment on those. I also love cold power liquad, only cause it leaves clothes smelling amazing.

  • I use the pods as i like I a using the correct amount and not wasting any. No fabric softener for me either. I switched from powders years ago as I kept getting white powder patches on the dark clothes where it mustn’t have dissolved properly.

  • Have these answers been helpful?

  • I always use fabric softener

  • It depends on your machine I use OMO for our front loader

  • It depends on your machine, for our front loader I like the Purity liquid, which is pretty cheap, or soap nuts, which are really cheap.

  • I wouldn’t bother with pods unless you can afford it, they’re a bit too pricey for me.

  • I think liquid is best now a days.

  • I always used powder, just because that’s what my mum used, but recently I switched to Method cleaning products for our house including their clothes washing liquid. It works great, smells fresh and best of all I know it’s not going to cause us any allergies. I can’t say from my experience that there’s any difference between using powders and liquids.

  • I have found no difference in cleaning between liquid or powder

  • I stick to my regular detergent Omo. I love using a fabric softener with whites only

  • and for powder make sure you put it in the machine after it fills with water

  • I use both powder and liquid if your machine isn’t that brilliant stick to liquid

  • I use powder in the machine and fabric softener in the fabric softener dispenser section of my machine. Sometimes I just use soap nuts.

  • I find the liquid best, the pods are just a gimmick.

  • I find liquid is better. It need less time to dissolve. May be less cost effective, but I use less than half of what is recommmended

  • I always use powder – if you’re worried about it not dissolving in the machine, put it in a small bucket with some hot water to dissolve it first. I never use softener – things soften up with use!
