Hello!

We spend so much time purchasing for others, our kids, family and friends but Im curious what us mums are hoping for. I have a pretty standard list every year of candles, face masks or vouchers for outings (ie, movies) but I can never really think of stuff for myself.

  • Im so glad to read all these replies and see that im not the only mum in this boat! Looks like books, candles and vouchers are the way to go. Present gifting was so much easier before when there were dvds and cds etc but now everything is online! Even games are mainly online. It’s tricky

  • I am a big reader, so a few books are always on my wishlist. Usually very specific books – the few times my husband has ventured off-list he’s bought me books I already have. My kids also know I like jewellery, and wear earrings most days, so inexpensive but nice jewellery often turns up. And I love Lush products.

  • Ha, nice you’ve got someone to buy for you! It is always hard to think of things for yourself. I’m an experience kind of gal… going to do things, zoo memberships, movies, facials, dinner, winery tour, etc. I do like a Glasshouse candle though! And I’m considering a splurge on an icecream machine this year as a family present.

  • I’m so glad I’m not the only person who has this struggle. I always struggle to think of ideas for myself. however, this year I have been sending screen shots of things I’ve seen that I like to my family, so I don’t have to think of anything one the spot. Much of it is craft things – Life of Colour mandalas etc

  • This is a good question, I really struggle thinking of things I want. This year I have a couple of ideas, I like to buy nice candles like glasshouse, the ones that are costly that you can’t justify buying regularly. I would love some new wine tumblers as mine are quite old. I would also love a shark steam mop otherwise a voucher for a massage would be Devine.

  • In addition to my comment below about books; I would also love anything for the garden. I do love to spend time outdoors in the garden and would love to add to my garden. I would love vouchers to buy new items for the garden. Happy to receive surprise gifts for the garden too!

  • To tell you the truth I would just love giftcards for coles woolworths and aldi to help us through at least a month or so of groceries as Christmas time seems to more expensive with food not alone trying to buy gifts so Giftcards are the go for me thanks

  • I agree. It is so hard to think of something just for ourselves, it always ends up being something for the household that everyone uses. I am always up for a book from one of my favourite authors, something for my garden or one of those multiple shop vouchers that I can use where ever I like and spoil myself.

  • I hear you. I really dont want or really need anything.
I would love to be surprised by my partner with airline tickets or perhaps a cruise to an overseas destination.
Other than that I love books but have a massive to be read pile so doubt anyone would buy me more.

  • I am always over the moon to receive piles of books and also vouchers to buy books. I love to read and a pile of books for the Summer holidays is the best gift! I love the vouchers too and can happily spend hours hunting through bookshops for new books to purchase and read with vouchers.

  • There have been some absolutely divine sales lately that I’ve splurged on a lot of beauty and self care products. A bargain tonight, an extra 20% off sales items on Mimco, I couldn’t resist. What I *really* want is a Tineco steam mop. I know that’s such a boring choice, but it would free up my days and make things so much easier. Holding off for black Friday sales to stash away.
