Hello!

“My 3 month old has been sleeping through until about a week ago he is starving hungry when he wakes up at 3 in the morning, can I put a little Farex in his milk of an evening or is it too early for that?” When can I start to give baby Farex?

  • 4-6 months seems to be the recommendation.

  • 4 to 6 months. My gp suggested its to be added with food rather than a food by itself ie add to apple puree

  • A little Farex mixed with his milk is the perfect way to introduce solids. And a little bit at 3 months won’t hurt

  • I never out farad in my baby’s bottles. I always spoon feed them. I think if baby can’t hold head up don’t start on solids. Ask your chn.

  • 4 months. recommendations now are that they don’t have food until 6 months old

  • My son had it the day he turned 4 months old. He wasn’t a fan though.

  • I think the recommended 4 months is best, most babies at this age still have night feeds, their tummies just aren’t big enough to get them though the night.

  • I would suggest at 4 months.

  • Up to 4 months is better .

  • I hope you received the advice your were after

  • I would give it a go, might be just what they need to fill up.

  • I think its from 4 months and up

  • I would give him it at 3 months but make it runny

  • Babies go through growth spurts and and they cluster feed more around these times, as much as it is tempting I would hold off with the solids till the 6 month mark..

  • I agree with the others, 3 months sounds way too young. Maybe try cluster feeding him more at night, that may prevent him from waking up hungry.

  • I think on the box it says 4 months, but I always waited until 6 months before offering my babies food. They both turned their noses up at farex and I don’t blame them. As some others have suggested I found weetbix and vitabrits a much better alternative.

  • weetbix is a good alternative if you aren’t keen on farex

  • I never fed farex as I didn’t like the consistency of it. (was like glue) I blended weetbix to a smooth consistency & mixed it with water which my health nurse GP & Paediatrician advised to start from 4 months. My baby has thrived & now at 6months is eating what we eat blended up. Every baby is different & as the mother you know when your baby is ready!! I certainly would not have held of until 6 months..

  • Solids of any sort under 6 months is a NO NO!! Their gut can’t take it 🙁 Milk is all that’s needed for the first 12 months. Under 1 is just for fun.

  • I didn’t start until just before 6 months as that was the recommendation at the time. Perhaps talk to your nurse or GP and see what they recommend.
Some advice that I got was to start trying them on ‘food’ once they started to take an interest in it (e.g – watching you eat etc.)
