My 2.5 year old is still in a bed in my room. I find it easier than having her wake up her brother and sisters during the night. Honestly do what works for you. I think the SIDS recommendation is 12 months but if you have a good monitor and/or the rooms close and your comfortable doing it earlier that’s fine too.

For SIDS it’s best to wait until at least 12 months.

Our youngest was never in our room, she went straight into her own

Both our boys were in our room for 11-12 months. First in a bassinet then we moved the cot in. The only reason we did this is because it was suggested by the SIDS people. Then with the second it made sense because our boys shared a room and i didn’t want a newborn waking up the 15 month old.

Our baby was in a cradle in our room for the first four months and then in a cot in her own room after that.

My daughter slept in her bedroom from the first night at home from hospital. When she woke up in the middle of the night for feeding, I took her up, fed her on the rocking chair in her bedroom, then put her in the baby pram and moved the pram to our bedroom, where she spent the rest of the night. This for the first two months. Then she began sleeping all night through, so there was no need to move her to our bedroom anymore.

We just started putting our daughter in her own room last week, she’s 7.5months. For us she was a quiet sleeper which was part of the reason she was in our room for so long. (Plus I was very attached) she grew out of her bassinet so it was time. Each baby is different I know some that moved their baby in their own room at like 5months, and I know some that had bubs in their own room from birth.

My daughter ( firstborn ) was the hardest to cot train because we didn’t know how to cot train properly and at the time hub worked nearly 7 days and refused due to the constant crying . When you take your baby to the childhood centre, I would discuss this with the childhood nurse as some say its best to do this straight away ( with baby monitors ) and others say give it a few week . Stick to a good feeding routine first and go from there . Good luck .
