We generally put ourselves up on the 1st or the weekend which falls first after the 1st so the kids aren’t at school and we have more time to do it together as a family. We like to put the christmas music on and decorate the house as well so it does take a bit of time.

Living in SA the rule is always when the Adelaide Christmas Pageant has been on, which was last weekend. We put ours up yesterday. If you want to add something new, you could stream the Christmas Pageant while you do it! It’s an SA institution and tradition for many households here.

Traditionally Xmas decorations go up during Advent so approximately around the third of December this year. I’m not a terribly religious person but I do feel it’s important to teach children that Christmas is a Christian celebration not just an orgy of food and presents (: Same applies to Easter and even Halloween which isn’t, strictly speaking, a religious event, but dates back to ancient Celtic harvest celebrations.

We have a December birthday girl, and I know a lot of parents in that situation put the tree up after the birthday – but for us it’s too close, only three days before Christmas! To be honest, it can vary wildly depending on my organisation, but usually about a week to ten days before Christmas.

As early or late as you want. I like to put mine up on December 1st and take it down January 1st usually. Although, only a month doesn’t seem like a very long time. Might put it up early this year and cross my fingers my baby doesn’t destroy it lol

Also; the other reason we wait until December is because we have a tradition of visiting the Christmas Shop. We love to visit the Christmas Shop and have a wonderful time looking around the shop and then buying a new and special Christmas item for the the family and for our home.

Totally up to you ! Go for it when you feel for it. My friend showed me 3 weeks ago already a picture of having all her Christmas stuff up (her kids are all gown up).
We ourselves will skip this year as we will be travelling overseas mid December till end of January 🙂

We never put the Christmas tree up early or decorate the house with festive decorations until the month of December. We like to make putting the Christmas tree up and decorating it and the house a s a fun and festive time and that is why it has to be December for us.

I am a Christmas LOVER. I try not to get too excited as I feel as if it ruins the magic of it all but I love to have the decorations up for as long as appropriately possible. So, I get them up by early November and take them down by mid-late january.

I think it’s nice to get the tree up early. December things usually reach fever pitch with all the events and things on that you have to go to, if you work there is just no time to get the tree up if you wait. I usually like to do mine early November – I won’t be able to this weekend as it’s a long weekend in Launceston. But will definitely do next weekend.

I like to do it around second week November. I prefer earlier then to take it down just after New Year’s. It’s such a short amount of time you have all the decorations out so I like to make the most of it. Plus it then gives me extra time to get a cute (and corny) family photo in our matching PJs to send out.
