Hello!

I’m about 7 months post-natal and still wear some of my maternity tops. I’ve lost almost all of the baby weight except for a few kilos. When do you move back in to your normal clothes?

  • Sometimes you don’t move away from maternity wear because it’s so comfortable! I have a friend who was still wearing them 4 years later. Dont worry about whether your clothes are maternity or not, you have a baby now – you just do what feels good for you.

  • Whenever you’re comfortable! My youngest is 8 years, and I still occasionally throw on a maternity t-shirt because I just feel like wearing something very loose.

  • I move back to my regular clothes as soon as they fit me.

  • When you feel comfortable, and it sounds like you’re almost there.

  • Hey I wear what ever I want whenever I want, if it happens to be maternity so be it, those clothes are so darn comfy and for me they fit better because they are usually longer then regular tshirts and I have a long body so it is nice to have something that covers me properly!

  • When they have a nice fit on your body and sit nicely…. Years later i still wear some of the tops they are too nice not to.. But i still have a spare tyre around my waist line.. (after three kids)…

  • It depends, are you still breast feeding? It’s sometimes easier to stay in maternity tops if they are easy for breastfeeding. Otherwise if you are comfortable in your pre baby clothes then switch back. Everything you do now is for baby, so put yourself first and go get yourself a few new pieces that make you feel good.
    All the best ????

  • For the first I was in no hurry. But the second, I stopped wearing them in the hospital. I just wore baggy clothes (similar to what would fit at 4 or 5 months).

  • It’s really up to you. I still kept wearing mine for a long time after because I was breast feeding and some maternity clothing doubles as breast feeding clothing. As soon as I stopped breast feeding, I then stopped wearing it all. Although, I did find that some of my maternity clothing was just too ridiculously big on me even if it was able to be used for breast feeding. I guess it depends on the make of things but in all honesty use it as an excuse to update your wardrobe! If you still breast feed and can’t wear all of your old clothes yet, try going to second hand stores, markets, etc. and find some normal clothes options that will still work for you- button down tops and dresses, zips, even some singlet tops and halter necks can work it’s just a matter of trying things on and seeing if you can still get easy breast feeding access.

  • ASAP, your self esteem will improve once you go back to ‘normal’ wear. You must be so fed up if you are still in your maternity clothing

  • I am 7 month post as well and still wear the shorts. they are just too comfy lol. i’m bit bigger side so comfy is hard to find. i don’t think there is any time you have to stop.

  • When you’re ready. Sounds like you’ve done a great jog in loosing most of the kilos, so just keep it up with sensible diet and exercise. It took years for me to loose the bulge (and now I’m working to make sure it doesn’t come back during the next change of life) so well done!

  • When you’re comfortable. My youngest is 3, and I still have the occasional day when I wear a maternity top – sometimes you just want a loose fitting top!

  • I think its when you feel comfortable and can fit into your regular clothes. It is sometimes easier to keep wearing the tops especially if you’re breastfeeding.
