Hello!

What are some suggestions for winter breakfast options for adults or kids? While my kids don’t mind cereal in cold milk or plain toast, I prefer to give them a warm breakfast but running out of ideas, also mornings are such a rush, prefer if it’s something quick

What we have have in rotation: oats and porridge, steamed buns, boiled eggs, eggs on toast, toasties.

  • I would say you already have some pretty good warm breakfasts in rotation there. I would add to that baked beans on toast, omlettes, raisin toast, sliced banana on toast, grilled tomato and poached mushroom with some poached egg avo and toast. Bagels are also good when you can get them at a decent price.

  • If you have an airfryer you can quickly make up hash browns and make up a breakfast wrap with cheese and tomato.
Bacon and Eggs, scrambled eggs, omelettes are great with added things like cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms.
Tinned spaghetti or baked beans on toast.
    Breakfast sausages
Sausage pattie on an english muffin with cheese

  • Yum! I totally agree with you! Our go too for quick an easy is to add warm milk to whatever we have. Ie, hot milk on Weetbix, hot milk on cerial. It sounds weird but if you eat it straight away it’s really yummy and good for your belly! Oh and definitely pancakes 🙂

  • Pancakes out of the bottles where you just add water and mix and then have with fruit. I also like to make a protein mix one and then have a savory version in the morning with feta cheese or cream cheese. Another option is overnight oats which are made the night before.

  • Breakfast is not a big meal in our home so your rotation it bigger than I would think of, although I used to love an omelette with chives, tomatoes and mushrooms.

  • I’m sorry, but my only question is why you prefer to give them a warm breakfast when there are days when things are so rushed and needs to be quick. Whilst I admire what you are doing, I would definitely be having a ‘cold-breakfast break’ every now and then, just for my own sanity. I’m sure that, as long as they eat something, your children will survive. I’d probably look at options that can be cooked the day before and heated up the next day, such as pancakes, or quiches (or whatever the breakfast form is with vegetables), or something like making the pancake mixture the night before so it can just be poured and cooked or making up the mixture for scrambled eggs the night before.

  • Egg, cheese and bacon cupcake muffins. Perfect size for little kids and yummy too, super easy to make cupcake or muffin tin butter or oil on it, mix egg, bacon and cheese in a bowl then 3/4 fill holes. Cook on 180*C for about 1/2 hr. These taste great and you can change ingredients based on what they like x

  • Sounds like you already have some great ideas there. I would also suggest tiger toast (toast with vegemite and then stripes of cheese on top. You could also do baked beans on toast, a croissant with your choice of filling – you can warm these under a grill to crisp them up. Warm scones – savoury or with jam. Or if you were really in a rush, maybe keep some leftovers from dinner to warm up.

  • We don’t eat cereal in my house, I don’t like it, and since I eat breakfast too I don’t provide it as an option. Personal preference obviously. Porridge, scrambled eggs, omelettes, baked beans on toast, poached eggs and smoked salmon on toast, these things aren’t difficult or time consuming to prepare or clean up and provide a good dose of protein and carbs to start the day. Egg muffins can be pre prepared and served warm or cold too. These are weekday options for us.

  • Toastie sandwich/jaffle with any bread and any filling. Can be made in advance like meal prepping!

  • Raison toast, crumpets and honey, pizza muffins, spaghetti, beans, scrambled eggs bacon, sausages. Hashbrowns, bubble squeak, toasted wraps, hot savoury muffins, or warmed sweet muffins

  • Any microwaved cereal with milk.
    Ie Weetbix, cornflakes, cheerios.
Any toasted bread with either: butter and Vegemite, peanut butter, nut butter spread, Nutella, jam.
    Heated pastries
    Any leftovers from last night.
    Heated donuts with milk.
My mouth is starting to water now. I’m getting hungry lol
It’s funny how you think if food options quickly when your hungry.

  • Pancakes? I believe you can buy pancake mixes to make it a little quicker, or maybe make a stack of pancakes in advance and then heat them up in the morning and add some yoghurt and sliced fruit.

  • Something as simple as putting warm milk on cereal can make it much nicer during winter. I’d give that a go. You could also make things like quiches or fritattas which can be made in advance and heated up again in the morning. Scrambled eggs are pretty quick and easy and nicely warming.

  • we have few options on this. a avocado toasty as avocados are in season. Egg sandwich with cup of coffee. Weetabix with dry fruits. or simply pancake. In my culture we do make congee most of the time for the breaktime. it is simple and healthy for your gut health. also depends on your budget

  • I love warm mini quiche in the morning ( Can be made ahead of time- just reheat in the microwave.) Also beans on toast or bacon and egg muffins or pancakes with fruit are other good options. Fruit muffins or crumpets are also quick and easy 🙂 My kids also love a warm milo in winter.

  • A bit of a cheeky option, but warm weetbix were always a favourite option for us. Hot water poured over with cold milk. Warm and comforting on the hectic weekday mornings

  • I was going to suggest warm oats with some fresh honey and banana. I have also recently been making scrambled eggs with sautéd mushrooms, bacon and avocado. My Sunday go to is pancakes with some hidden protein powder in it. It is hard to find a hearty warm breakfast sometimes but I hope you find one that is super delicious.

  • My first thought would be the good old oats. Other ideas are scarmbled eggs on toast with baked beans on side or additions of friend mushrooms onion and sausages (like the cooked breakfast you get in the Uk and or Northern Ireland). Pancakes are a good option too either sweet or savoury. We can also find inspiration of Asian countries where they often have warm breakfast with veggies, rice and tofu or meat or a lovely soup

  • Apple Pie Oats is another great winter break go to. I just use whatever brand of quick oats is on special, then add sultanas, apple pie fruit that i have sliced up and cinamon sugar. I have tried to turn this into a muffin but haven’t made any muffins or pancakes better than the oats yet.
