Hello!

I passed on a bag of newborn girl clothes for my friend who was expecting a boy. She rifled through them and pulled a onsie out that said Little Fairy on the front. Her husband declared that his son would not be wearing that outfit! Would you dress your baby boy in baby girls clothes?

  • People are quick to judge indeed. I had my daughter as a baby in a denim wee dress and people asked if she was a boy purely because she was wearing blue !

  • Yes I bought a really outfit for my daughter and I thought it looked great on her until I started to get comments like oh is she wearing her brothers clothes now seriously

  • I dressed my baby girl in “boys” clothes, so it’s not too different dressing a boy in “girls” clothes

  • When it’s quite neutral, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

  • I would be hesitant, only because of others judgement and comments, but would consider it if I had to.

  • I would dress them around the house in clothes like that and to be honest I probably would out in public too.. Who really cares?

  • If the items were fairly neutral I would.

  • Yes I would put my boy in a dress, skirt tights too.I would not care what people say about it

  • I know a lot of people have issues with this. And that’s their choice.
Me however…I used to dress my brother in girls clothes and I have a lot of friends who have dressed their boys in girls clothes. My parents thought it was hilarious. He was just so cute and could have easily passed as a girl haha If its in the privacy of your own home then its up to you what you do. If you decide to go out in public or post on social media then there’s always going to be someone who will have something to say about it.

  • I wouldn’t put a dress on a little boy or a shirt or outfit that said princess or fairy, anything else goes

  • If it’s overly girly, probably not, but if it’s just around home….probably

  • ummm depends on what the outfit says or colour….. I can make mine wear red thoigh… lol…bcoz i love red hahahah

  • I had my son first, didn’t know the sex til he was born, so he was dressed only in boy clothes. When baby number 2 came along, a girl, we had lots of boy hand me downs. So she wore boy clothes, not exclusively and mostly only as a tiny baby. I see no problem, Bub doesn’t know

  • To be honest, depends what it was. It subtle then yes!

  • The phrase dont look a gifthorse in the mouth comes to mind but some people want everything to be perfect and don’t appreciate second hand. It was generous of you to give away your baby’s clothes.

  • I wasn’t fussy, our four kids wore blue/pink regardless at home (even occasionally in town). I did have more than one occasion when my beautiful girls dressed in pink frilly dresses were told by strangers they were beautiful boys, and the same for my boys dressed in blue dinosaurs, called lovely little girls.

  • If they are one piece suits and only worn at home in bed the extra ones can be handy as young babies have a habit of doing more loose poo that will stay in the nappy. You may need to change clothes several times a day, possibly even more if your baby vomits all over his clothes. Back 60z +odd years ago baby boys and girls wore the same smocked tops etc

  • I would if it was subtle, but my husband would probably say the same thing. Colours and stuff I don’t mind but wouldn’t do a dress or girls shaped clothes

  • i think it depends on where the baby will be wearing the clothes. i wouldnt put my son in girls clothes if we went out but a onesie under his clothes at home would be ok

  • Yes if at home. I was given all my neice’s things so I’m in the same boat as your friend. My husband said he didnt care if we had a son and he wore girls clothing at home
