I have gone through public delivery with all 3 of my children. I had fairly decent experiences with all 3 and always felt very well looked after. I think the only thing I would have liked better if I had gone with a private delivery, would be being able to have the extra privacy of a private room.

I went private and am really glad I did. Very smooth process and nicer facilities.

I’ve done both, and I’d definitely go private if possible.

I went public and couldn’t fault it. The only differences were that I couldn’t pick my own doctor, and the nights I had to stay in the hospital for recovery, my husband couldn’t stay.

Why pay I went public and there were no issues and in fact I really enjoyed it

We went public for all three of our boy’s. We cannot fault the hospital & the staff at all, they were just wonderful. We had some complications with the birth of our last son & again the staff were just wonderful, not only in treating him but in keeping us calm & informed while it was all happening.

I had mine in public hospitals. One was streaks ahead of the other. Knowing people who’ve gone private, I wish I could’ve afforded it for mine

As mentioned before, I think it depends on where you are. With my first I had access to both, but stuck with public. Honestly, I loved everything from the midwives during the birth, to the midwives in the maternity ward and the nurses in NICU. Despite being a public hospital, it was still private rooms where hubby could sleep on a cushioned bench if he wanted and individual rooms for bub in NICU(prem baby), so I could stay there when I was released from the maternity ward. The midwives and nurses were very supportive, informative, up to date and generally helpful. I live much further away now, but I still hope to go there for baby #2.

I think that depends on your location and what your options are. I am from a city with both options and the Public system here has more benefits than private! For example our public system has a full maternity hospital attached to the main building and has a Fetal Medicine Unit for higher risk pregnancies. It also has a fully equipped Neonatal team incase anything goes wrong.
I went Public, and I had unexpected events happen with my birth and if it wasn’t for the amazing team here and their quick thinking, my daughter and I may not be here today.
Explore your options and ask to do tours if possible. Paying more money doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get more. 🙂
