She takes water in her mouth then opens it so the water slowly runs down her chest. What can I do to stop this as it is a new thing and she finds it funny. I just get cross but I don’t want to upset her too much as it is hard enough to get her to drink any water at all.

  • My daughter went through this stage, spat her water constantly. I can assure you at 4, she has not done it for a very long time now, its a phase, it will pass.

  • Very interesting reading the comments on this!

  • My daughters both did/do this. I think they are just exploring and it feels good. I wouldn’t get too worried. But I’m sure she’s grown out of it by now!

  • She will grow out of it. They just like to see what happens.

  • Take it off her. A warning. Then its gone if behaviour continued.

  • yeah it is just the phase that they go through

  • Yep that’s what kids do! they dribble, its a phase, ignore her and she will move on!

  • It’s a new thing that she’s discovered! She thinks it’s fun and funny! Just put up with it until she gets sick of it.. Lol

  • i think every child does this :) :) :) :) :)

  • just try to get her to drink it by saying it make you strong you you happy

  • there are some good comments here

  • I totally agree with MEMO

  • she has discovered a new sensation, and laughs. Try to distract her with something else, She will eventually get sick of it and discover a new trick. Try to be patient.

  • Is it that she just loves getting attention, or is it that she actually loves the feel of the cold water on herself.. Perhaps if you gave her a cold flannel to hold, she might decide that is cold enough, and then be distracted and swallow the water for you. You can only try….

  • It is a new trick she has learnt – mine went through these phases too. Just try to distract her onto something else.
