I’m 37 and wasn’t able to fall pregnant. Tried for many years and so didn’t have my first beautiful girl till 35 who was born at 25 weeks gestation via emergency caesarean and then I was lucky enough fall pregnant again and had my beautiful girl at 38 weeks (had to be delivered early due to size) via emergency caesarean 5 months ago. I’m 37 now and I understand have to wait before caesareans, I might sound selfish but I’m trying to get other women’s advice on having 3 caesareans or having a 3rd one late in life. So basically I was after opinions on old age with pregnancy and would you do it late in life and is 3 caesareans safe and how long a gap between caesareans before falling pregnant again. Any advice and opinions would be great thanks. Do you have any advice on having caesareans later in life?

  • Would love to hear what you ended up doing ! Did you succeed to have your third by caesarean ?

  • Whether a 3rd section is safe in your case is of course not a question we can answer, we’re not your doctor and don’t know your medical history.
I myself had 2 caesarean sections after age 40, the first one being an emergency classical section (outer layers horizontal cut, inner layers vertically cut) which increases the chance on rupture. My 2nd section was planned at 38 weeks only 12 months and 3 weeks after the birth of my first.

  • A Caesarian is not something I would opt for at any age. I used to think they were easier then natural birth, how wrong I was

  • Ive had 3 ceasers. First was emergency (twins, first was born naturally) I was 33, second (singleton) was booked ceaser because drs didnt support me in having a vbac I was 35 and third(twins) was also a booked ceaser because of lack of support in having a vbac I was 36. The lack of support is due to having 13 kids and the risks involved in allowing me to deliver naturally especially with twins. The recommended time between ceasers is 2 years and it all depends on the individual and their body as to how many they can have although its not recommended to have more than 4. Many woman I know have had ceasers and then gone on to have natural labours.

  • I think 3 is the max, so hey why not go for it. I would wait a little longer before falling pregnant. when I had my c section the doctor told me to wait AT LEAST 12 months before trying again, to allow the muscles inside that they have to cut through to fully heal and be strong again. You go girl!

  • My last c sect was at 34. I feel I could do it again, which would be no.3. I think time between may be subjective and therefore not something that is comparable.

  • i had 2 c sections my 1st was so horrible but my second was ok because i know what to expect.

  • I have a friend who had 3 C-sections, one at 37 and she was complication free.

  • I have had 2 caesars and my gynae advised after my last child to wait a couple of years.

  • I think it would be fine to have 3 caesars, my cousin had 3 and she had her last at 39 years.

  • Go for it if you want 3 babies go for it!

  • How did you go with having or going to have a caesarean

  • I had a c section at 37

  • It could be good to talk it through with your doctor. I know there is a recommended time to wait between c-sections because you need to give them time to heal completely otherwise the weight of another pregnancy can cause them to reopen or something, not 100% sure but had heard of it happening to someone.
