I’m trying to lose weight but I don’t have the money or time to buy special things/ingredients etc especially with 3 fussy kids. So I’m just trying to cut my portion sizes and eat lighter meals. For breakfast I have a banana up & go, lunch I have a ham, cheese tomato sandwich that has butter and a tiny bit of mayo or sometimes I have eggs on toast or egg omelette/scrambled with tomato cheese and avocado. Dinner is usually some kind of meat mostly chicken (schnitzels, rissoles) with pasta and vegies/butter chicken and rice, tacos with salad etc. I don’t see that as bad food but I know they aren’t the absolute best for losing weight but if I cut the portion size and exercise will I lose weight or will I be going around in circles. I do light exercise, a fitness class once a week but would like to try do something everyday.

  • I have lots of tips, none that have been successful helping me lose weight though. I think what I’m lacking is not tips, but the motivation. I too easily stray from my wanted path

  • I too am struggling to lose weight. I’m liking the comments here.

  • Reading what you eat, I think it’s not enough? I did michelle bridges 12wk body transformation and the portion sizes for some this were more than I could manage! Breakfast might have been natural yogurt with walnuts and fruit, porridge or untoasted muesli with grated apple yogurt milk and walnuts for example. The only drink she recommended was water and from memory it was close to 2litres a day! Depending on the food type the portions were smaller. There didnt seem to to be much salad, fruit of veg in your diet – these are great for the vitamins but they also fill you up more than a popper of milk. A high percentage of weight loss is diet (80%). Don’t eat late at night, stick to your meals, think about everything you put in your mouth (keep a diary and get a calorie counting book), think about the food types you eat – ie most things white aren’t good for you – replace white bread with brown or grain, eat high fibre foods and think about the food pyramid. Hope something helps

  • Firstly Good Luck.
I have recently lost 8 Kilos myself & the main things I changed were cutting out my morning coffee, (I only ever had 1 a day anyway) I also cut out chocolate (I am a big sweet tooth), & I cut out carbahydrates, so bread potatoes & pasta out of my evening meal. I only bread during the day.
I also have a smart TV which you can get you tube on, but the computer works just as well, & I get up at 6.30 every morning before the kids rise & do an exercise work out.

  • One way of cutting down on portions is using a smaller plate. It works so long as you don’t pile the food up on your plate. Beware of foods that are labelled lo fat these quite often have a higher sugar content than ordinary foods.. Dietitians say we need 43 ml of water per day for each kilo of body weight. When you have schnitzel do you deep fry it? If you shallow fry it in coconut or olive oil that will cut down on the bad transverse fats and you will be eating healthy fat in a smaller proportion.

  • Good job! Controlled portion sizes are super important for weight maintenance and loss! It’s sometimes a challenge to factor in daily exercise especially when you’ve got children to care for. I tale my little one to the park of an afternoon a few times a week and she rides her bike while “I try to keep up”, its the motivation we both need to keep a good pace going!
I’ve also found that youtube has an abundance of workout videos to choose from! Everything from yoga and pilates to Zumba etc.

    Good luck!!!

  • Smaller sized meals,lots of water,no snacks,and exercise.Cut back on wine etc.

  • drink lots of water. I was doing an app called virtual gastric band/easy loss facebook page
    it was interesting

  • You sound like you are on the right track well done. I am doing pretty much the same thing but I am also using the My fitness app on my phone and it has been a great way to keep my calories in check.

  • I like to add more fiber like Oats and Apples and Baked Beans to all my meals.
If I do this for two weeks up to 5kg’s just drops off.
No fried food! No Chocolate and No Chips! No eating the kids nibbles.
It’s a case of sticking to a lifestyle change and you will have it made.

  • as said below, I would cut out the up & go and replace it with oats or a smoothie, try to cut out your carb intake. if you have bread at lunch time then don’t have rice/pasta/bread at tea time. eat as many vegetables/salads as you can handle(broccoli is great to bulk up a meal and make you feel fuller longer and next to no calories in it) with some sort of protein lean meat/chicken/fish/tuna….plus drink lots of water! You are doing a great job….keep up the good work and good luck keeping on track with it all :)

  • Do you drink much water? try upping your intake there as that can make a big difference. Swap your Up-and-go for a real breakfast – oats, smoothie, an actual real banana, Otherwise it doesn’t sound too bad. Do you snack often? Drink fizzy drinks?

  • The Rosemary Conley “Hip & Thigh Diet” has always worked for me! I can still have the occasional breakout & enjoy a wine also.

  • Already left a comment and now wanting to wish you luck with your weight loss journey. Good Luck! :)

  • The easiest way to loose weight, For breakfast have only fruits and water:; banana, pear, avocado, or apple. They’re good to fill you up. Have a toast of whole meal bread for your morning tea, eat anything at lunch (heavy lunch), have your afternoon tea, and stop eat anything after 5pm. Only drink water. You will loose your weight pretty fast.
