Hello!

I now have lower back pain, it has been suggested this is because I had an epidural, has anyone else experienced this?

  • If you’re having pain I’d suggest getting it looked at by a GP, and hopefully they could point your where to go from there. I didn’t get an epidural because I was worried that I’d get paralysed (only happens to a limited number of people). The more pregnant I got, the more worked up I got about everything lol

  • Check with your obstrectian or family doctor . It could be the soreness from the needle but normally you have a followup after birth so see a GP asap if it is still sore after many weeks .

  • Tenderness which eventually dissipated – always check with your GP if concerned about back pain.

  • I did for a while but it is gone now, maybe see your doctor

  • Yeh only occasionally though. Not always

  • I would see what the doctor thinks

  • you could have some inflammation or a infection from where it went in

  • I had epidural and had back pain after that, Just notice that it’s gone now my daughter it’s nearly 4 in a few months

  • I’ve never heard of this linked to an epidural before, unless something went wrong with the epidural. I’d suggest seeing your doctor – there are an awful lot of causes of back pain.

  • Get it checked out by a doctor!

  • haven’t experienced this, maybe speak to a doctor for some tips

  • Before epidural i used to experience back pain.i got epidural exact four months ago.now also i have back pain if i bend for long time. Dont know whether it has any relation with epidural.i didn’t see any increase in my pain after epidural

  • Yes it’s quite common after an epidural. Have you tried massage or acupuncture? It might be worth a shot and hopfully you get a bit of relief.

  • I have the same problem STILL and i had an epidural nearly 7years ago now. Its horrible.

  • It is common to get back pain afterwards. I talked to a message therapist and she asked if there I had any sore spots and I do. Even to touch it can cause pain. She found a lot of woman have the same problem. Mine has eventually gotten better over time however but still sensitive from time to time. I have 2 epidurals. I had an emergency c section.

  • not the right person to answer this 🙁 sorry… inexperienced

  • yes I have had the same issue and 7 years on its still very bad to the point they have sent me for scans to make sure I had been given the epidural in the wrong part of my back as they did try 8 times to get it in.I have also been told losing abit of weight my help the back as when I had a c section your back carries a lot of the weight while your stomach recovers.

  • quite possibly but check with your doctor if it has not gone away soon.

  • I have never had an epidural but I do know that it is quite common to have back pain afterwards. If it is really bad then you can always mention it to your Doc just in case.

  • I struggle with back pain after my epidural, you can still feel exactly where they put the needle
