Hello!

My two eldest girls are only 11mths apart and are turning 4 and 5 soon and I can’t handle the bickering between them all the time. The nearly 5yr old is turning into a bossy little mother wannabe and the nearly 4yr old stirs and pushes buttons to get reactions. The arguing, fighting and whinging is getting to the point where my head is going to explode!!

  • Relationships between siblings can be difficult at any age. I hope your girls are getting along now that they’re older.

  • My now 15yr old son has always been someone who loves to tease and annoy. Not in a malicious kind of way, but more like cheeky. My now 11yr old daughter responds very strong on this and brings it to the point of escalations.
I chat with my son and I chat with my daughter and I attempt to try to chat with them together and (as old as they are) I separate them when it’s needed.

  • Maybe try a reward system?
No fights for 1 week and thr get to do something fun like swimming at the beach or going to a big park..?
My 4 y/o loves sticker charts are tesponds really well.

  • I have no solution other than to sit down with both girls and try and work out why they have taken on these roles and remind them that they are sisters for life and should be kind to one another.

  • I have no answers but I feel your pain. Although the age gap between my kids is more and I have a girl and boy it’s the same as you……older bossy and little antagoniser!! I just try separating them, but them always levitate back together and then it starts again.

  • And it doesn’t stop! I have a 22 yo and a 25 yo and they still bicker whinge and whine. Not as bad as when they were younger, but still drives me nuts

  • Argh what I have to look forward to! I have a 16 month old and a 8 month old!

  • I liked on facebook there was a picture of two kids in a super large shirt that said ‘our get along shirt’ LOL – maybe try that ?

  • what did you end up doing

  • there are some good comments here

  • thats normal sounds like my house every night

  • All this is normal…. However if you can seperate them try to do so and it doesn’t matter how long until they can get along

  • How did you go? Have they backed off of each other?

  • OMG- I am glad I am not the only one that experiences this. Hope it gets easier for you. Looking forward to trying some of these tips. Thanks!

  • Hope some of the advice below has helped.
